Is Jade the New Favourtie to Win?

For once I'd like someone just like your average Joe to win.

Bah I'm surrounded by average Joes, I dont need to turn on TV for that.

BB is not a zoo.

Of course its a zoo. Its a game show. They go in for exposure and 250k. They are there for our entertainment, they bloody well better be entertaining. After its finished they can all disappear back into the ether happy or otherwise.

I know, and I can tell that you personally put through well rounded opinions since you also watch live feeds but some people from day 1 have not liked Jade, twist facts and call her names that she's not. E.g. people that watch live feeds know that she has dyslexia, know that she grew up having to financially support her family working several jobs and had trouble in school because of that. Yet people claim she's a gold-digger and stupid for which they have no basis. + if she has a 'bad moment', boy does she get it then. I prefer when people are open minded to all housemates. Like for example, I started out not liking some housemates but I did not target their fans and call them names for liking them. And I kept an open mind and my fave HM's have changed.

I know what you mean.. There's a lot of strong language being used about each of the different housemates. It's amazing how much emotion is being evoked! Thank you for your kind words. I know I can get a bit intense with my opinions but as you said, they come from watching everything and taking into account all the different aspects. My issue with Jade is not that I dislike her or feel any hatred towards her, I would just be disappointed to see her advance to the final stages of the game when there are other players in there who have contributed more from an entertainment and television perspective. It is a TV show, after all!

In the seasons in channel 10 it was not like a zoo at all. The show is there so that the most likeable housemate wins, likeable does not mean entertaining. What is it with this obsession with thrill? Does no one care for good old fashioned humble personality and respect?

This is a show with real people living their lives together, if you put a bunch of actors in there it wouldn't be a reality show but some kind of a stunt show and people end up voting for the best player not the best individual. They would overlap, we wouldn't know who was who.

People complain all the time that most of the housemates have some kind of a background in the entertainment industry and then they endorse those kind of views which you've outlined... doesn't make sense to me. Call me old fashioned but I'm not voting for an actor, what's the point may as well watch the bold and the beautiful.

Beige and boring? What do you expect her to do? Start fighting with other people? Start ratting people out to each other? Start playing pranks like Tim? If she did that, it would be totally out if character and just tryhard. My personal opinion is she is intresting because she doesn't do those things. Jade is not an attention seeker, it is a reflection of someone real because in real life you wouldn't start on complete strangers just because there's not much to do. For once I'd like someone just like your average Joe to win, drama is not a part of life which should be rewarded. At least I hope not. BB is not a zoo.
I find Jade pretty boring most of the time, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with her or that she would necessarily be boring in real life. I just don't find her very interesting to watch. Not everyone is suited to Big Brother.

This is reality TV; your average Joe shouldn't win IMO. Other HMs have done a lot more to be entertaining, whether just by being themselves, or putting on an act. I think Jade is being herself but she seems quite self conscious and holds back a bit. I think the winner should be someone who has kept people watching the show. No one's going to stop watching when Jade is evicted, as opposed to if Tim was evicted (lots of people say the show would be boring without him). BB is a zoo; the HMs chose to be on public display for up to 3 months. You can't make this any more zoo-like unless you put them in a cage, which was already done: the halfway house.

They HAVE put a bunch of actors/wannabe actors/entertainers in.. That's the point! Tim, Ben, Jade, Justynn, Tahan, Boog, Maddie - all actors/entertainers/models/wannabes...

Yeah that's what i said in the last paragraph, what I was alluding to was the fact that Jade 'not doing much' is a virtue not a weakness with the entertainment factor.

I suppose it boils down to how we see the show. In the past it may have been a different show but the highly edited version we see now is a different animal altogether. I see the HM's as characters, they need to invoke a reaction in me good, bad or otherwise. Average does'nt do it for me, but each to their own.

I have to say, I agree with BBfan- this is a TV show and entertainment is what keeps people watching.. If Tim went, the show would definitely suffer. If Jade went, it wouldn't make a dent.. That's not to say that the claws need to come out and eveyron should be fighting or making a scene, some people are just natural entertainers and others are not.

This is such a personal opinion because for me I feel the opposite. From the start she is the one and Drew that made me keep watching. When it comes to big brother I prefer watching people develop relationships, good or bad. She has had a lot of story based on that. I don't mind if they get all strategic during nominations but when it comes to the day to day interactions I prepare HMs just being themselves. All this outwit, outlast and outplay stuff belongs in Survivor, which I love by the way for the opposite reason to BB. I've always like to watch it for the psychological point of view not game tactics. I guess I still subscribe to the old version of BB, all about the people interactions of each other. Although it seems inevitable that Oz BB is starting to go the USA and Canada versions. I've seen bits of it, I'm not a big fan.

I agree with you entirely about the outwit/outplay etc and all the strategising. I'm finding it almost unbearable to have to watch endless (mindless) discussions about who's playing the game and who to trust. I would also much prefer to watch the relationships unfold and the personal interactions. The game talk is boring and painful. They seem to think it's all about alliances etc., but no, it's about the public and what we think of them! Anyway, side rant, sorry! My comments about Jade are just that she has become mundane and doesn't add much to the story anymore. I agree, i was totally hooked wtih the fake marriage and then her obsession with Ed, but even that has become boring now! I guess I would prefer to see more of the people who seem to be genuinely getting into the experience and who aren't so concerned about how they're appearing..

Totally agree. It's ironic some of them keep talking about game strategy (so obviously they have their eye on the prize) but do they know how much more interesting they would be if they just relaxed and focused on other things? Ahem..Ed. I never saw BB as a strategic game. IMO you can't fake a great/interesting personality.

Same, my reasons for watching are centered around Jade + Tim. Particularly Jade and her interactions, with Tim (another fave) and Drew (many continue watching in the hope that Jade+Drew will interact again because the reason a lot of new people got so into this season like you and Obsessional have said is cause of that marriage task and how their relationship became so complicated afterwards...I think a lot of people still watch in the slight hope that they might reconnect).

Jade, unlike other HM's, has formed some sort of relationship with most of the HM's and many storylines are focused around her. You can't just have Tim running the show. Yeah, it would have been SO much more entertaining if Jade played along with Tim's advances or just twisted things up a little bit and 'played the game' some more, but Tim has set a very high standard :) I think this is where BB needs to intervene and maybe give her some mischievous tasks, out of her nature, like he has for others.

Jade certainly doesn't have the biggest or most interesting personality out of all of them (but she doesn't have the most boring either), but I still think she brings an awful lot to the house in terms of drama, fall out, relationships, players strategies/alliances etc. She's been heavily involved in most of the big moments, relationships, etc of the season.

Yes couldn't have said it better myself. The channel 9 big brother is entirely different to the channel 10 one. I just miss the good old days that's all ^.^

No the Ed thing has gained her support, with the sad 'love story'. If she loses that she would have to hang onto another man in the house, she may be desperate enough in the game to do that (just like the similarly empty Layla last year).

I am sure the ED thing has gained her SOME support but as a Jade fan from the start that support does not make up for the support lost and those put off her because of the Ed thing. On an overall scale she lost more then she got from it.

I would never throw death threats towards Tahan or Ed, but that doesn't mean i can't dislike them or wish they were evicted... I didn't like Tully either but it was exciting to be at her eviction show and I've enjoyed reading her tweets since she got out.
I may dislike people on the show but in reality I'd be stoked to meet any of them!

Me too! :)

Yeah she tends to hold back in the group situations. In regards to her self esteem as well, I heard her say once that she feels 'stupid' (I'm thinking she meant awkward) most of the time, so she tries to avoid doing things which might make her look even more 'stupid'. For that reason, I believe she holds back for the most part in certain situations (like the other day when they did the 'best worse dance' she didn't really get into it as much).

She's not very outgoing except when she drank more than usual during LNF and sexy danced around the palm tree haha. I think I like her because I can relate to her unwillingness to make herself look 'stupid'.

Anyway, I think she's got a chance of making it to the top 4 (If she hasn't walked, that is!).

LIKE!!
That is one of the reasons I like her too. And what Sweet said about her not wanting to look like an idiot also. I like that she can let loose sometimes but not look silly. I mean look at the intruders when doing that dance off. They were both being stupid but yet Boog was funny, Maddy was not. Not everyone was built to look stupid. I like that she know were to draw the line.

And can I just add that thinking before you act and say something is a good thing. Its nice to see someone in control of themselves most the time. She is real and I can relate to her. She reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger. Its refreshing to see someone like her on TV. :)

Maybe, but overall I think she's in the best position with this showmance and she knows it. I'd be surprised if she no longer realised he had no interest, but it still gives her a storyline and even sympathy from some of the audience. Without this she'll either have to continue pining for him or more likely (like Layla last year) just move on to someone else. Showmances are a big theme because of the undeserved success of Layla doing it last year. The audience are to blame for being sucked into supporting her and even gaining her second place.

Layla was a highlight of the show, much like Jade is to others. She didn't get to second just cause of the showmances. Hello? 'Oats a la Layla' haha. So many funny jokes and things were centered around Layla. I can't see anyone else replacing her in the top 3. Trust me, people are not supporting Jade cause of the showmance. The showmance brings down her image but her support is strong enough to overcome that.

how can you say she is boring when she has that much of an air time is there any episode that she isnt in !! you dont have to be a clown or a sycho to be interisting
