Why don't people like Ben?

A further point to my discussion about Ben during the Drew and Tully having an emotional moment.

He comes over, interjects with his crap ignoring the situation. In the middle of him talking. Tully burst into tears. Did he care? Did he stop? Did he change what he was saying? No! He ignored it and kept on going as if it didn't happen. How can anyone claim he was trying to lighten the mood? Or anything but he an insensitive uncare, lacking empathy shell of a human being.

Someone burst into tears and he didn't even flinch or care and kept on crapping on about his shit. Come on!!!!

We have seen just how much Tully cries, and it's awkward when someone cries....especially Tully who flat out bawls, you have the tinfoil hat on with Ben.

i wish more people would react this way to Tullys dramatics (particularly Drew). all she wants is attention. if you ignore her then that behaviour will eventually stop and perhaps she'll find a more positive way to get what she wants.

he is cute, but the gawdawful most boring housemate I've seen

But watch the show with the audience. No matter what ben does the audience laughs and cheers.

Oh look it's Ben sitting on a couch. *laughs*

Ben stands up. *crowd laughing*

"Ben looks up slightly *thunderous applause *

"Ben scratches his ear *standing ovation*

Oh don't be stupid.

She's having an emotional discussion with Drew. It's private. Do you really think that in the middle of all this, she just burst out into tears to get attention from Ben?

Of course not. This is exactly a moment where you can't accuse her of wanting or seeking attention from her emotions. She had a mean and nasty housemates saying horrible things to her, to try and destroy her closest relationship in the house. She's discussing that, it's tense and emotional. It's the complete opposite of being dramatic for attention.

It's not a tin foil hat to point out that he interjected himself into a personal and emotional discussion between two close housemates. Was crapping on. One burst into tears and he ignored it and kept on crapping on. That is what happened.

she had someone put forward an opinion of a situation that differs from hers.....that is all, nothing tense or emotional about it. sometimes people disagree with you.

and the tears were meant extract yet more pity form Drew, you're the one going on about Ben ignoring her.

i thought that was really weird but it was probably edited. maybe when he was saying all that she'd already been crying for a while. and it's tully..come on. it would be very different with anyone else.

Nah I watched it again. She had been crying but while he's standing there prattling off, she burst into tears and he ignored it. Long enough of a shot to see it wasn't just editing.

The problem with your way of looking at Tully is as if she isn't possible of genuine feelings or emotions. To me she clearly seemed like a strong genuine moment of being upset. They were having a discussion about Ed set prick. The mean shit he was doing. Both feeling a bit isolated and alone just having each other in the house. Close in the moment but upset at the situation.

It's different than an opinion being put forward. Ed set prick was deliberately being mean. Sticking a knife in a twisting.

clearly we saw that differently.
Ed told her she was being played, all she had to do was say 'you're wrong, i have great confidence in our friendship'. end of story.

instead she chose to wail and draw more attention to herself.

That's all well and good to say. Except for the fact she's too weak a person to say that. Especially in the face of an aggressive intimidating muscle found prick.

I'm sure Ben has seen Tully burst into tears countless times and is as much over it / desensitised to is as a lot of people on this forum. I can't imagine I would react much to her crying either because it happens too often to give it justification

So people who are emotional forfeit all rights to then have emotions....

I think people are just using a dislike of Tully to justify the indefensible in Ben.

I don't think they are, I think they're point out that Tully cries very often and you would be 'used' to it so to speak.
And to be honest, if Ben had just walked past you would have bagged him for that as well, it's ok to simply dislike someone...you don't have to have a complete analysis of their mental state.

Crying at the drop of a hat in the house, compared to having a serious emotional conversation with someone you're close to, are completely different.

Ben should have just walked past. No I would not criticize him for not getting involved and talking about himself while someone breaks out into tears as he ignores that and keeps on.

Yeah, I agree. I thought it was a bit strange that he just stood there talking about himself being nominated when that was completely irrelevant to what Tully was crying about. He should have said that he'll give them some privacy, and then left.

In a way yes - it's the old boy who cried wolf story all over again. People get sick of it & when she evinces the same type of response for minor things as major things, it becomes hard to feel sympathy for her.
p.s. I can't stand Ben, but I don't think he did anything wrong in this situation.
