That's interesting. Yeah it can be hard to differentiate between bi and pansexual when you're just speculating because they 'look' the same but don't feel the same (not that I'm either of those btw).

Bisexual: sexual attraction to both men and women
Pansexual: sexual attraction to anyone, regardless of gender
 
Not my words but ....

Bisexual means you are attracted to either boys or girls.
Pansexuals are attracted to boys, girls, genderqueers, intersexed, third gender, transexuals, ect.
They don't care if you're a boy or girl or neither or something in between.

Thanks Jessy girl. Well I hope she can relax a bit more and that she ultimately gets what she wants from the experience. (I suspect while I may have admired her fleetingly from afar if say I were at Uni with her, but i would never have got to know her and that I have a very different life to her. Which is what makes BB very interesting viewing...! The emotions we all have as humans though... They are often much more similar than our lifestyles, hey?!)

What candysugars said. I think pansexuals are sort of 'genderblind', like they don't care about gender.

Honestly, they are very similar and its really hard to explain.

I guess, I would think "bi" means "two" while "pan" means "all" (or something to that effect)... bisexual people see gender & sexuality in a sense of male/female, masculine/feminine, penis/vagina, etc, within the normal societal norms that most people view these things.

Pansexual people, basically, don't. Think "panoramic"... a wide view. They basically could, at any given moment, be attracted to an effeminate male, a masculine male, a masculine female, a transgender, pre-op, post-op... anything.

Honestly, I don't have the greatest understanding of it but I do get the basic difference, but it is pretty hard to get your head around.

On the surface, they are quite similar.
 
Does anyone watch Ladyboys on ABC2 Friday nights? The men who like them must be 'pansexual'

Truly though the world of LGBTIQ is very tricky to navigate, get one term wrong and they will let you know about it.
 
I've seen Ladyboys a couple of times, Ichi. It's a very interesting show. I wish my reception was better on Channel 2 so I could watch it without interruption.

Wow this the best explanation ever. I finally understand how pansexuality is different to bisexuality!

Well, I'm glad I could be of some assistance. It is pretty damn confusing really, and trust me, the average person you would encounter on the street wouldn't know what a pansexual is, let alone what the difference is.

As a lesbian AND a friend of Tully's, I have to say she is not doing anything to make "us" look bad.

Ps - she identifies as bi, but since she tends to favour women more lesbian is generally more apt.

Not really "more apt", as a lesbian is a woman who exclusively has relationships with other women. She should not have labelled herself as a lesbian in her opening package.

I must be really thick. Cisgender means that because I was born a woman and identify with myself as a woman that I am cisgendered?

Why in flaming blue hell would they even need to come up with a word for that? SMH

It's because cis/transgender isn't about sexual orientation but rather gender identity. It's like the generic gay/straight terms for gender identity.

You're right though, there are way to many labels/titles for the average Joe to keep up with.

That makes sense. Let me rephrase... she has previously identified as bisexual, but since she hasn't been attracted to a male in several years (possibly excluding Drew??) then lesbian "feels" more appropriate. When bisexual people end up marrying someone of the opposite sex, more often than not, they will just say they are straight, which essentially they are for all intents and purposes. Similar thing with Tully. She has no plans to break up with her girlfriend, so if all goes to plan, she will continue to live her life out as a lesbian.
