Tully Making Lesbians Look Bad

Ignorant homophobes will find any reason to be ignorant homophobes. People shouldn't have to wrongly label their sexuality just for them.

IMO and others the label of lesbian is the wrong one. I don't know if you are trying to imply I am an ignorant homophobe but if you are you are barking long and hard up the wrong tree.

@ tori - so they could promote the hot, young, cool lesbian I guess.

Yes, ignorant homophobes will probably (sadly) always be ignorant homophobes.
But I think you missed the point I was making.

Woah I have been MIA from these forums and missed this thread... jeez.

As a lesbian AND a friend of Tully's, I have to say she is not doing anything to make "us" look bad.

Ps - she identifies as bi, but since she tends to favour women more lesbian is generally more apt.

It's ridiculous, IMO ichi. I also think it's ridiculous we differentiate between different coloured people. We're all the same race.

Haha no I'm not saying that at all. It was just a general statement. I just meant that people shouldn't have to feel like they need to label themselves something, even though they know it's the wrong label.

But why give ourselves sexual labels at all? Why did she bother volunteering that info? Or, probably more to the point, why did BB think it was important enough to highlight?
Unfortunately I think it was for attention.
Cause a lot of lesbians are quite private about their sexuality and I know Claire was (04?) and even Sara (can't remember which year) wasn't that outspoken about it.

Oh, thanks for this info. I was thinking she might be pansexual with a preference for women.

Sexual preferences aside (I know o/t), is she being portrayed fairly? Is she highly strung?

Its totally possible that she is in fact pansexual, but she herself identifies as bi.

She was, by all accounts, 100% straight until she met a particular girl when she was 18 and they became friends and would occasionally make out etc and then dated for a few years. Once they broke up, people suspected she would be back to men & it did look that way for a while, but then she was just as interested in men and women. So, given that info, pansexual definitely seemed correct at first, but these days I would say she is bi... but there is a relatively fine line between the two.

The cisgender thing? I agree, I was like wtf oh I see I am not allowed to refer to myself as 'normal' (yes I get the whole but we are all normal thing blah blah)

Well I suppose that's BB's fault for portraying her as gay/lesbian.
But don't you think the cuddling up to Drew is getting a bit much? Even if she's bi, she's got a girl.

Oh, I actually meant the having to label anyone - but yeh, cisgender is pretty darn dumb when you're a "regular heterosexual".

Yes, she can be super highly strung, but she is also pretty laid back at times, and - clearly - she is an emotional person. I wouldn't say she is being portrayed fairly, but she is being portrayed accurately. If that makes sense at all. We are seeing a super, duper exagerrated version of her personality, with an apparent omission of things like her fun-loving and easy going self. It's possible the BB experience is not what she hoped and she hasn't fully relaxed around the other HMs yet and that's why these things aren't evident.

Sorry to be vague about this and no of fence intended at all, but what IS the (relatively fine) difference between bisexual and pansexual?

Real question.
