VERY EXCITING! We'll probably get the news at 5am in the morning, which means I'll wake up to it and hopefully be GLEEFULLY HAPPY to find out who it is, but also TERRIBLY SAD that Matt Smith is leaving. Bittersweet... that's the feeling everytime my Doctor changes...
 
I hope it's someone unknown to me so I don't have any preconceptions (Smith & Tennant were new to me, I knew Eccleston though).
 
Yeah, I like a new and fresh mysterious Doc - and I'm pretty sure the producers do too, they don't want us thinking of some other character, or persona, they never go for hugely famous thankfully.

They cast this show so well, I look forward to something/someone wonderful. Matt has been quite lovely in the last series, I have loved his last hiding the Doc stuff acting, he's been fantastic.

...thanks for the kudos... much appreciated... that haystack is awesome... I love it... those T-shirts are good aren't they?... I'm with the rest of you in regards to the new Dr Who...I prefer a nobody to step into the role... and as kxk said... they never go for hugely famous people... so I hope that they continue that trend... I can't wait to find out Who it is... cheers.

I got part II, that has episodes 6-13, and that includes the Christmas special Mud, and now I know what your tag is on whirlpool!

I can't wait to find out the new Doctor, it's always like Christmas waiting for that reveal, love it.

Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor will air this Monday August 5 at 4am EST (3.30am SA & NT, WA 2am).

ABC1 has now confirmed it will simulcast the BBC special in which the next Doctor will be exclusively revealed to the world, Live to Australia.
The half-hour show will also be available to watch on iview throughout Monday, and replayed at 8.30pm Monday evening on ABC2.
Brendan Dahill, Controller ABC1 says: “We are extremely excited to be able to reveal the highly anticipated next Doctor to Australia as the breaking news happens live, direct from the UK – a first for the ABC.”
Regarded as one of the most hotly contested roles in British television, the 12th Doctor will be unveiled during their first ever interview, in front of a live studio audience set against the backdrop of a swirling vortex, amongst Daleks and the TARDIS.


The special will also include live special guests, Doctors old and new, as well as companions and celebrity fans, and will feature clips and moments from across the show’s 50 year history.
Current Doctor Matt Smith and lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat will both give interviews about one of the biggest roles in TV and set out just what it takes to be the Doctor.
