Layla lacks depth and insight

Just watching the 'breakup' of George and Layla and was quite struck by how little subtext there was in their conversation. It was almost as if they had only hooked up a couple of times and didn't know each other at all. I barely saw any of their verbal exchanges during their time together, it was as if they decided to be a couple and that was it. BOOM. I don't even know why they were drawn to each other. In the break up footage, George was worried that the whole house had conspired to change the sleeping arrangements behind his back (understandably) and she missed/chose not to notice how hurt and disappointed he was. She just hugged him and flounced out. I think if I lived in the house, I would find the shallowness of Layla's feelings and her lack of insight incredibly frustrating.

LOL are you oblivious to the fact George has been bragging about how in love with his ex he still is and that he will buy her a (possible engagement!) ring when he gets out? Layla had to end whatever was beginning to develop between them because she saw he was just using her as it was convenient for him. He's a womanizer and always will be as his lifestyle will afford him many fast cars and fast women and Layla just isn't that kind of girl.

George was a douche though, does he think he can afford to treat people how he pleases? Layla deserved a little bit more respect than being used as some tart on the side while his heart really pines for his lover outside the house.

Ah haha actually, I was oblivious to the engagement ring situation. I must have missed it, despite being quite vigilant. He even said that he's been broken up with that girl for a year and they weren't getting back together to Layla in the 'break up' scene. Look, I find George boring, I just feel like Layla doesn't really get to know people properly before she befriends/defriends/makes out with people which shows a lack of judgement and independent thought that would drive me nuts.

Poor Layla, she hasn't a clue about Australian nuances she's at quite a disadvantage in there and the cultural differences are partly what makes her a bit vague and childlike - she's looking at a new world and on TV, weird!

I mean, she wouldn't pick up on the bogan pointers and other social stuff, class/demographic differences etc are more subtle or just different, perhaps confusing here.

I got the feeling that Layla had a mission and figured out "okay so I need to say this and this to George and then it will be done" without considering, you know, that they might have a conversation or that he might feel a certain way; just that she needed to say a particular set of words and it'd be over.

Yes, she definitely wasn't allowing any kind of conversation to take place. I would have been so embarrassed if I was George- she was kinda making it seem like she had been trying to escape for a while, and she'd obviously already consulted other people about sleeping arrangements. I'm not a big George fan, but I felt very maternal as he took the news and pretended he didn't care either way.

I'm thinking Layla has a good chance of winning.

1) people on the official facebook page seem to be obsessed with the "oats a la Layla" song. So having her own theme song = more populararity (for some bizarre reason)

2) Aussies seem to like their female BB winners to be dumb. They seem to find them lovable and/or funny. Reggie was dumb, and she was possibly the most popular winner ever

Layla started to go down in my estimation towards the end last week…couldn’t believe how much Laya was talking about Angie behind her back.
I can understand if she needed to offload but do it with one person not four with three of the four being part of the gossipy crew. Angie had picked up on Layla’s coolness over the last few days and gave Layla the perfect opportunity to talk to her about her feelings earlier in the week when Layla was talking about being her own person where George was concerned, Angie asked her outright was she doing the same thing to her but Layla assured her she wasn’t.

Then it moved to another level …why …because both girls wanted the same guy. I think ppl are underestimating Layla, and how competitive she is and not nearly as ‘dumb’ as she makes out.

She wanted George, she got him, and now she wants Sam, so she told George they were no longer an item ( there was no discussion as she claimed she just told him)…and she used the ‘ex’ as an excuse…..she has known about the ex from the beginning, even heard him talk to Ray about her in the Capt. Quart.

she was visibly upset that Sam had said to Estelle in the CQ he didn't 'get her' .....she's a player through n through

I love Layla.

It was the second time she'd heard George talk about marrying this other girl and their future life together. Good on her for calling it quits.

I don't think she's a slut for her behaviour, she's a single girl having fun, it's not like she's toying with emotions and doing the dirty behind peoples backs.

I swear to God, for the last two mornings I have woken, got out of bed and without even realising, I am singing it!

That song is going to send me bOnKeRs!

And thanks very much for once again introducing it as the background music of my mind!

...Oats al la Layla, oats oats al la Laaaaaaaaaayla, I say, Oats al la Layla, oats oats al la Laaaaaaaaaayla, ooh yeah, Oats al la Layla, oats oats al la Laaaaaaaaaayla....

Umm, men can go homo in prison etc while they love someone else on the outside.

Its called facultative homosexuality.

So its understandable George wants to get on with Layla in the house while 'imprisoned'.

She has known about the ex for the last 6 weeks....so for me too little too late....and there is now way I would refer to any of the girls as 'sluts' such a heinous label.....and really such a "high school" term

And I think she did do the dirty on Angie....

As I posted earlier:

Oh no.....wished I hadn't read that....I've just got the waa waa song out of my head....

"Slut" is a ridiculous term, I agree. Anytime anyone brings the word in to a thread my body tightens and I recognise we are no longer having a clever discussion about the psychological motives of the housemates anymore- we are getting lazy and nasty and very high school. I completely agree, Layla isn't a bad person but she makes some very cruel decisions. Talking to a group of people about one person is not looking out for Angie's wellbeing- she just wants everyone to tell her she's a good person and not to feel guilty whilst kind of destroying Angie's standing with the housemates. I don't particularly like Angie, she can be very obnoxious- I just understand why she was so upset with Layla suddenly disliking her.
