The Cell, I have it on dvd. Haven't watched in ages. But I really love this movie, I think it's underrated. The visuals are amazing.

Awesome movie.
When it was on at the drive in i was working on the gate alot and i watched it 3 times and cried every time. At one point i had tears rolling down my cheeks and had to serve customers coming in for next movie. LOL Poor people.
I changed to watching other movies after i realised i'd keep crying every time.

The director of this, Tasem, i recently saw a film of his , "The Fall" i wrote about it somewhere in this thread. Amazing movie!

Sorry to reply so late rara. I saw this when it first came out but now I don't recall that much of it. I know it revolved around a serial killer or something didn't it?

Yeah, it's involves going into a Serial Killers dreams to find out where he has imprisoned a victim.
A bit of Dreamscape, Nightmare of Elm St, Silence of the Lambs and plenty of it's own originality.
Some quite stunning visuals.
Oooh I remember it now... When you mentioned going into the killers dreams. Remember a scene where this horse was standing but it's slices of horse.... Eerie and creepy. "shivers"

I hate that scene, and the organs are still pumping. Such a creepy movie, but totally amazing at the same time.

I know. That scene sent chills down my spine... I first saw that on a date.. Mucho embarassment.. Had my hand in the popcorn tub that was on my dates lap and when that scene happened I went to grab my seat but my hand was still near her lap so yeah I ended up grabbing that.. "very red faced" For the rest of that day I was reminded of that by her. and with laughter.
Actually scenes like that are never done well in movies. like in "Ghost ship" when the old guys head gets chopped in half you don't see the seperate bits inside but a solid bit of meat. But all these movies do that. It's annoying from a technical POV because when they do surgery on you you have organs and muscles and not a solid mass.

Tora! Tora! Tora!
This is a movie based on the attack on Pearl Harbour. It's the only one of these movies in my collection apart from the fiction movie The Final countdown, but this movie is way better then the recent I think Spielberg or Michael Bay version called Pearl Harbour.
It's 137 minutes long but don't let that put you off. Once the movie starts you go along for the ride and the movie tells both sides of the story from both the Japanese and American POV. it's a great movie and I highly recommend it. Even though it's made in the mid 70s it's got great production values and all. One I will be watching again sometime.
8/10

I absolutely hated that movie

Wasn't helped that sad and quite pathetic Owen Wilson was in it

Eh. It obviously worked for a good number of people.
Why can't a movie be about a simple, typical family?
Why does it have to be Escapism?
I don't want to see my life reflected back to me. That's why I love romantic movies starring Colin Firth

Has anyone seen Sunshine Cleaning? I'm very keen to see it. I'm a big Emily Blunt fan, plus it has Alan Arkin and Amy Adams in it as well.
Just looked this up on IMDB and it sounds good.

"Angels & Demons". Cheers once again ACE cinemas in Midland. $10 total for LSCP and I to sit front row upstairs at the big Cinema 2. Perfect.
Read the book ages ago (before I'd even realised it was the same author as the Da Vinci Code). Pretty close to it. Only potential spoiler I'm going to give is that Tom's character is more of a swimmer than a diver.
Cool to see a bunch of places I saw when last in Rome, but the movie only reminded me that I'm in no hurry to ever revisit ...
Anyway, Ron Howard had a tough job trying to make a decent movie out of the book and I'm not sure he has managed. I'm not saying the book is bad (I enjoyed it) but how to condense it into a movie that doesn't make it all seem like "join the dots" ?
People standing around with hands on chins going "hmmmm, I wonder what this means", ain't riveting viewing, especially to audiences who wouldn't know the work of one wog sculptor from another (my hand goes up !) and aren't all that interested in frocked old men being guarded by harlequins.
Ah, but there are real moments of genius in Ron Howard's approach that despite the boringness and repulsiveness of the Roman Catholic Cult, can still entice the interest of even this old dog in relation to the inner workings of this apostate mystery/babylon religion and the country (Vatican City) it spreads its tentacles from.
Ron's angle on the conclave and its ritualised voting systems (and nicotine addictions) and camera work involving The Chimney, through to putting the audience on The Balcony overlooking the gathered masses, are but a small part of that, but I can't say much more without spoiling things.
A must see if you've read the book or you intend to read the book at some stage.
Ewan was well cast.

But what was it that the church was trying to cover up in this movie? And where does the LHC fit in?
I don't care if you use spoilers but spoil me. I have no real desire to see this on the big screen, but I will wait for the DVD. The DaaVinci Code was also a DVD for me as it felt so long and tedious
