Will this year Kill off BB in Australia?

I can't wait to see your next thread titled "My big brother" where you outline exactly how you would run the show from housemate numbers, rough personalities, what twists, how long they run for, challenges, evictions, spin off shows etc so we call all then offer some constructive critisism and maybe predict how it would rate and whether it would sound the death knell for the show.......

But you offer some good points, not only is the original following growing up but also lacking time to actually watch the show.....for me it's always been a social experiment and I still view it that way......it's funny I always seem to be able to relate most HMs to someone I have met or know, seems almost like there's a core group of personalities ( say 10) and it's only third party influences and circumstances that bring out our individuality........bottom line, if it's on I'll take an interest if not....meh but I would love it to continue......maybe in your proposed format Doc?!

I don't think it has anything to do with the Channel 9 version of Big Brother. I think maybe Australia is just tired of the show.

It's run it's course with a lot of the viewing public.

Not me of course. If they put two people in and filmed them half an hour a day I'd probably watch that.

I love BB and I think it would be a shame for it to go (I love most reality TV shows) and this season has been the best so far for me. I've found the house dynamic to be so fascinating <3

I hope you are wrong, but yes I also feel that this could be the last year for BB Australia.

Channel 10 really should've axed it after 07 based on the ratings, but they went ahead and did another season, and we all know how well BB08 turned out.

2008 is also proof that deviating too far from the original format isn't always a good idea. Twists and shake ups can be good and as viewers we like some variety, but they can't be taken too far or else it is frustrating to watch.

Only time will tell. It all depends on the ratings really.

I guess if Channel 9 ditches it then the chance of Channel 7 picking it up would be zero to nil.

Maybe Channel 10 in their financial disarray will be prepared to take any chance. But that is mighty optimistic thinking.

I actually had an exec from Channel Ten come into one of my classes who spoke 'off of the record'. He said that giving up Big Brother was one of the biggest mistakes Channel Ten made in terms of a ratings sacrifice.

I love hearing this so much. I wonder if they'd ever really fight to have it back one day?

Apparently they tried to get it back this year. I don't think it is as unrealistic as many people on here think.

By the sounds of it they will fight for it. They felt that at the time The Biggest Loser and Masterchef would sustain greater ratings and had a greater chance of longevity, but it was quite evident that he resented Channel Nine for the success that they had with BB last year.

please tell me you have watched it from the start?? If you watched from BB04 then i could understand you saying this was the best!

Really? Masterchef is doing about the same as BB and some days even better. Though im guessing Masterchef costs a lot more.

I think the reason for the ok numbers last year was curiosity. They promised us different types of housemates and all the blah blah and people tuned in. We were lied to and this year the same thing again and numbers drop. Will audiences listen to the lies a third time??

Biggest loset is also failing for ten.
The reason for that is the constant screwing with the formula. Year 1 and two had Bob and Jillian. It was also Red Vs Blue. In year 3 they started messing with it, new trainers, families, couples etc..ratings were never as good.

Big Brother...it went from what it was in the first three years to what it has now become- a house full of people you'd meet down at a trendy pub..and the ratings have dropped.

Im sure other reality shows are the same: mess with what works and fail.

I think Ch10 should fight to get this show back, cancel masterchef, throw a heap of money at Peter Abbot.
