I personally think the mid week nomination swap is stupid. If the housemates have the most votes they should be up. Poor Ben. Jade put Ben forward and it's making me hate her more and more each day.

I think it's cool. They have a chance to save themselves and it stirs the pot when they have to sacrifice someone. The only downside I see is for the producers. I thought they would want voting open longer for more money, even if they do have more housemates up to make up for it.
Housemates have to be strategic if they don't wanna be sacrificed. It's also a chance to get people like Ed out who might otherwise never be nominated.

BEcause it ruins the consistency of who should go - why should the hm's get to choose another person who should be up for eviction and ruin a persons chance of staying another week? The AUDIENCE are supposed to choose NOT a housemate!

I think it is a good thing. It keeps all housemates on there toes. It also gives nominated housemates hope that they will be saved from eviction.
To be honest I'm not sure. If it helps put the boring pot plant types up for eviction then fine but if those same boring Donks are saved because of it, I'd be pissed. I guess it has its pluses but in the grand scheme of things id rather it wasn't part of the game.

i'm glad a few people agree with me, i'm glad i'm not the only one. if Ben goes i'll be shitting bricks. and all the people on here that says he is FAKE. He is NOT fake. He is a genuine sweet down to earth guy. Ben doesn't know every time he talks to his pictures that big brother will air it. And if Ben was so 'fake' he wouldn't have said no to seeing his mother in the diary room.

It's entertainment. That's why a housemate should get to throw someone else under the bus.
If it was completely the audience's decision, they should put all housemates up every week.
The swap is perfectly consistent with the housemates being the ones to put forth a selection of themselves for public judgement. One housemate has more power than the others, but it's essentially the same.

exactly, it's that randomness where anyone can be nominated which last year really needed, lets face it, Michael and Bens group had the game won inside the house, too bad there was an audience watching though. This way at least anyone could be up just by chance

If anything, this thread highlights what a poor idea it was for Jade to choose Ben. He's the quirky different guy who is going to have a lot of strangely, err, passionate fans. Don't piss them off when you're likely to be nominated again.
A quick look at Twitter tells me that Ben fans are angry with Jade, Drew fans are angry with Jade and Tully, and Caleb for some reason has a lot of fans. The last one is the most confusing of the lot. My original point is that Ben fans are angry though.

Ben is probably the least likely to damage her in the house, but I was surprised she didn't pick Tully. Maybe she thinks the meatheads still love Tully and didn't want to incur their wrath. Maybe she didn't want to be hearing the the sounds of someone wailing emanating throughout the house for the rest of the week. It looked like it was just a snap call, but I don't think it'll prove to be smart in the long run (which may prove to be only one extra week now).

In a pool of 6 nominees, I really don't mind it. What they've got now is a satisfactory balance between having legitimately nominated housemates going up and there be a twist to the nominations too. I thought it was a bit silly to have that power awarded to a housemate randomly - it makes more sense for it to be a prize awarded for winning a competition such as the showdown.
However, with the divide now gone and housemate numbers slowly dropping I suspect that they might begin to reduce the number of minimum nominees to 3 as usual. Save and replace seems like too big of a power in a pool of only three nominees - only two of the nominated housemates would face eviction. I feel like that would undermine the importance of the nominations process. The power to save and replace was an award for winning FNL in BB07 and BB08, so it's not like it's anything new. It was what kept Emma in the game until day 50 in BB07, and so it can and will change the outcome of evictions. In a pool of 6 nominees and with a vote to save I don't think it has as big of an impact as it could, so I don't mind it for now.
