Where is Ben?

libliblibby

2nd Justynn Fan
Benny hasn't had much TV time this so far this week.

I'm missing the pajama clad, Newton loving, man child. Come on BB production (I know you are reading this!!!) - edit in my favourite HM before I have Mum and Nanna withdrawls!!!

Ben is no doubt moping about somewhere in his PJs with his permafrown on. I don't think the housemates are in any danger of Ben volunteering some effort and contribution....as per usual the'll have to plead with him and try coax it out of him. Nothing nappy boy loves more than to be babied into action.

Tim is a contributor and has always been, from the day to day mundane practical work to keep the house running all the way to the entertainment, fun and intrigue he has contributed. NEVER complains about his lot and more often than not is quick to offer a troubled housemate GENUINE and MEANINGFUL words of support and encouragement. Tim is a busy but mischievous bee, but one with genuine empathy.

BEN and ED in so many ways are the polar opposites of the supposedly 'least genuine' evil doer Tim. ED cares about nothing more than how he is percieved on the outside, so much so that any personality he may have had has been stifled by his strict "REFRAIN & RESTRAIN" strategy....it is no wonder that he has to date lacked the courage to stand up to Tim.

BEN I'm afraid is about as close to a parasitic human as there can be, sorry Ben fans but it's true. I truly CANNOT stand him....in his pjs all day moping about with his masterfully sad face welded on this HOME OWNER never misses an opportunity to tell us how POOR he is...and all the while has at the ready a litany of excuses why he can't cook or clean or do anything...haha...then has the boll0cks to tell the world he dumped a friend of 10 years for not paying him back for a can of coke and a meat pie. Sorry Ben fans, you're all deluded....he is a disgusting human being deserving of NO SYMPATHY. Unfortunately BB has decided that in 4 or so weeks he will be $250,000 richer. Sorry Tim, you are more deserving but you will leave empty handed.....I have no doubt though that your star is rising and an interesting media career is coming your way.

I'm actually enjoying his disappearance. Hoping he couldn't handle being away from Mummy & Nanny and left.

I do not understand why he is a favourite to win, with his super extreme manbaby ways. It was funny/endearing to begin with but now it's just like "really? a 31 year old man who acts like a 5 year old boy who is afraid of his own shadow and plays with barbies because he can't stand the violence GI Joes' bring"

I adore Tim, and yes, I've seen your disgust at Ben for being a "home owner" posted in these forums before. Thing is, when you have a mortgage and you are unemployed, you still have to pay the bills, and paying the bank is usually more than paying a land lord.

Being a "home owner" does not mean you are wealthy.

I really like Ben. He is a beautiful man, and he has blossomed before our eyes on BB, particularly for having known Tim. Yes, I want Tim to win. Yes, Tim is absolutely compelling viewing in the BB house, but I disagree with you calling Ben disgusting or parasitic. I'd go for lazy and misguided.

Regardless of your disgust with Ben, I like watching him - ergo my demand to the staff at SSE to bring him back, soon ;)

I think it really depends on what you like to see. I can't stand watching the Jade/Ed saga drag on, nor did I like the Drully stuff. I loved what Jhustynn brought to the house, but I saw that as a challenge for Tim.

Everyone is different, but I really enjoy watching Ben, however, I've always been kinda quirky :)

Ben is a giant amongst men, amongst men in the BB house. Ben who is slow of wit and bare of hair is the only male who has bravely gone where the other wimps dare not tread. With unwavering resolve he has braved the searing hot days, with steely courage he has let the dark long nights embrace and overwhelm him... his heroism is indeed unequalled.

He, Ben, did it all without the aid of a fabric made from the hair of sheep covering his head. :p

libliblibby ...fair play. Truth be told I have also enjoyed the moments when Ben has stepped up and out of his shell, and you are right, those moments have often come when Ben has been in Tims company. Tim may taunt him, poke and prod him, but I do sense that he has some genuine empathy for him....it's interesting that some of the most intimate and insightful interactions Ben has had with any housemate has been with Tim. Don't get me wrong the others have at times comforted him with "ata boy Ben, you'll be right" or "I trust you, you're genuine"....but his exchanges with Tim have often been more substantial.

I think what infuriates Tim and many others on the forums (myself included) is that despite being in the house for so long and having been give so much love and even babied into opening up and contributing, Ben all too easily slips back into his "I'm so poor and helpless" routine. In the real world there is only so much of that I would tolerate before I would just say oh bugger with it...I'm through feeling sorry for you. It's precisely in those moments that i think "oh you bloody parasite". Ben has the potential to be a wonderful person if he would only work for it...I suspect however that he is more comfortable with the easy way out of life...thing is, that will only last for as long as mum and nan are around. What then ?

I hear you loud and clear. There is only so much of the "woe is me" that I will tolerate in a friend with out seeing that friend make changes after that. I feel that Ben's oppertunities after leaving BB will be amazing for him, if he only has the bravery to embrace them. I sincerely hope he does, and think that he will. After all, this man-child had the confidence to audition for BB, he thought he was good enough to make the cut and went for it (and made it) - so surely, upon his exit, he will take another step in a more positive direction for him :)

As a fan of him I'm glad he's not shown much, just to shut up those people who go like "Ben gets the most screentime".

I mean, really, it was always Tim who got the most screentime than the other housemates. You can tell.

Maybe the last few eps have been a real reflection of how little he truly adds to the show! His only ever screen time is when BB purposely favours him.

I dislike Ben very much and he can evaporate for all I care.

To each, their own - I say :)

I kinda thought that for an episode or two, but now I want my little solar panel man back, shining up our screens ;)

I think Ben is genuine and sweet. I hope he wins. Can't stand Tim or Drew. Go BEN!

i love ben too. i suppose he is being left on the cutting room floor some because of all the bitching about his special attention/treatment.

the thing is, he isn't dimwitted or helpless at all. he is very bright, very witty, very articulate and aside from some display of childlike emotion, he is very grounded. look at how he handled that bert and patti thing - anyone who was dimwitted or simple [as he is often called here] could never have been so gracious and in charge of that situation in the garden as he was. there have been numerous times he has behaved with the utmost of decorum when faced with challenges and teasing/ridicule. so he doesn't know how to cook and doesn't want to know how. he feeds himself [in between nana/mum visits, i'm sure]. he wears pajamas a lot - we all have our comfy clothes on at home. I just don't get where a lot of the Ben hate comes from. As for boring? Like Libby says, it all depends on what you want to watch.

I think we aren't seeing much of Ben this week because he hasn't done that much, but also because he's not up for eviction this week.

Ben dimwitted and simple ?.....VERY far from it I suspect. In fact I think he is as intelligent as (and if not MORE so) than anyone in the house. But again, that may just be me as I happen to think Ben is EXTREMELY calculating.

If I had to cook especially for him, when cooking for a group of others, it would annoy me too. I'm glad that Tim pointed this out to Ben, and it was to Benny's credit that he took it on board and did something about it.

He has lovely manners, is witty and incredibly funny. However - he is also full of self doubt and that vulnerable side of him has been where his critic have chosen to focus. Yeah, he can't cook. Neither could my ex husband. It's not why he's my ex though ;) What I do love about his critics though, is that none of them hate on him because of his quirks (ie the Newton stuff). They have targeted behavioural traits that they don't like in every day people, and I respect that.

I can relate to Ben. That helplessness that happens after a life changing event (in his case, redundancy) can make you or break you. Having said that, he had the confidence to apply for BB, and the producers saw something, so I hope it MAKES him :)

Because showing more of him won't generate more $$ in save votes, he's not nominated.

Why didn't I think of that? :P

Ben's where he is every day: Talking to those bloody pictures in the LF thread.

Should you ever worry about his whereabouts you're guaranteed to find him there.
