"They set Australian TV alight with the promise of entertainment, won millions of dollars between them and sparked careers with their newfound fame.

But where now are the Big Brother housemates that fame forgot?

While the reality show juggernaut has been a success for many former contestants (see Logie-winning Chrissie Swan or actor Blair McDonough), click through our gallery to find out what happened to some of the most popular housemates who have receded into obscurity."

Is there an old housemate you want to know more about? Contact the author Kieran Campbell by emailing [email protected].

Simon 'Hot Dogs' Deering

The provocative member of the 2005 Big Brother house now works as a real estate agent in Perth, according to his LinkedIn profile.

After his eviction he hosted the dismal Up-Late Game Show, made several cameos on television shows and posed nude in magazines.

In 2005 he was arrested outside a nightclub in Cairns, Queensland, and charged with committing an indecent act in public. He later pleaded guilty to having a woman perform oral sex on him during a promotional gig for Big Brother.

Sara-Marie Fedele

The bum-dancing, bunny-ear-wearing housemate in the inaugural Australian series has ditched her antics in the bid to find a fortune working in the mines.

After a period of celebrity following her 2001 appearance on Big Brother – which included releasing a song to celebrate her "Bum Dance" and presenting on TV – Fedele (pictured with fellow contestants Blair and Ben) went on to work as a plus-sized model.

It's reported that she most recently ditched the spotlight for a job in the mines in Western Australia.

The Logan Twins

David and Greg Matthew have settled down since they entered the Big Brother house in 2005 trying to fool housemates to believe they were the same person.

The duo born in Wagga Wagga, NSW, have each started their own families since winning $836,000 prize money, with Greg now owning and running pubs and clubs in Newcastle, and David operating a company with mining contracts based out of the Gold Coast in Queensland.

"We were quite smart with what we did (with the prize money). That sort of money doesn't come along all the time," the brothers told The Daily Advertiser in the years after their fame.

David Graham

The openly gay housemate on Big Brother in 2004 has found love and become engaged.

The man dubbed "Farmer Dave" from Goondiwindi in country Queensland, who came out to the house only a few days after entering, has started a business training dogs.

After a stint on Dancing with the Stars and other celebrity appearances, the now-Sydney-based Graham has found some obscurity and is planning a New York wedding with his business-owner fiancé Michael Cauchi (pictured).

"Thanks so much for everyone's well wishes ... was intending to keep that part of my life private but hey it comes with the territory I suppose," he wrote on Facebook when news of his engagement broke.

Terri Munro

The Pauline Hanson-idolising grandmother told ninemsn she returned immediately to her job as a Coles retail manager after winning the 2008 season of the show.

The 58-year-old remains in Richmond, NSW, where she says she's still recognised but the hype after her $250,000 win has died down over the years.

"I'm working like a dog, mate," she said.

She splurged on holidays to Canada and Hawaii but still has about $100,000 of her winnings that she is investing to use during retirement, she says.

Reggie Bird

The winner of Big Brother 2003 has faced numerous struggles in the decade since she stole the hearts of Australians as the ocker girl from Tasmania.

This year the 39-year-old single mum, who is going blind from retinal pigmentation, has revealed she is "struggling to live each week" between working and caring for her two children, one of whom suffers cystic fibrosis.

She told A Current Affair she was broke after spending all of her $250,000 prize money and also suffered depression after her first husband's affair.

Carlo Melino

The scruffy-haired housemate who sparked a public health warning after footage aired of him bathing in the sink appears to have shaved off his blond locks and taken up a career as a teacher.

He married his girlfriend Kate in 2008.

The pair, who have travelled the world together, now enjoy a quiet life out of the media spotlight in Melbourne.

2509_bigbrother7_a.ashx

Jamie Brooksby

The taut, blond, bandana-wearing housemate who fell in love during the 2006 series of Big Brother has abandoned his playboy image for one more refined these days.

He is a project marketing sales agent and strategist at a Melbourne real estate agency, according to his LinkedIn profile.

His romance with fellow housemate Katie Hastings reportedly fell apart away from the 24-hour scrutiny of Big Brother cameras.

After a few modelling gigs, Brooksby (pictured with runner-up Camilla Severi) embarked on a professional career in 2010.

2509_bigbrother14_a.ashx

Rima Hadchiti

The belly-dancing Victorian who measured only 1m tall but had a personality bigger than most others in the house has given birth to a "miracle" son.

Hadchiti, who left the house after breaking her legs during a challenge, revealed in 2010 that she was forced to give birth to her son, Osiris, at only 24 weeks because she could not carry him full-term due to her height.

She has been vocal in recent years about her son's eating disorder, telling A Current Affair last year it broke her heart.

Osiris has had operations to improve his severe reflux and constant vomiting, but he now associates eating with pain.

Merlin Luck

Remembered best for hijacking his eviction show with a silent protest in 2004, Luck is no longer a loud advocate for refugees.

Although the issues faced by those seeking asylum in Australia are arguably unchanged in the last decade, Luck has not spoken out publicly on the matter in recent years.

Since his stint on the show, Luck has tamed his wild hairstyle and his wife Sarah gave birth to their son, Levi, in 2011.

The couple also opened a boutique clothing store in Sydney.

Peter Corbett

Since winning in the second season of the show in 2002, Corbett says he has never again watched another episode of Big Brother.

"I became a commodity, a thing to be used and exploited by television people. I felt the real me, my identity, had been stolen," he told the Illawarra Mercury this year.

The popular contestant, who lost both his parents at a young age, was joined by his younger siblings, brother Tom and sister Meg (pictured), during the emotional finale

Nathan "Marty" Martin and Jess Hardy

After falling in love during the first 2002 series of Big Brother, the reality TV sweethearts went on to marry at the end of the show.

Despite making the most endearing television couple, their marriage – also filmed for a series called Marty and Jess: An Outback Wedding – later fell apart.

After separating in 2006, Hardy went on to study law on the Gold Coast and even took part in yet another reality show, Dating in the Dark, which she said helped her back into the dating pool.

Martin is now married and has a child.

Trevor Butler

The first million-dollar winner who proposed to his girlfriend in the finale of the 2004 series continues to have a profile in the media, albeit a significantly subdued one these days.

Now a father of two sons, Butler has previously talked about splitting his time between his family in NSW and working part-time for radio station 102.9 Hot Tomato on the Gold Coast.

"It's the easiest job I've ever had in my life, going around and talking on the radio, just being myself," he said.

Great post @the Theorist , thanks for that update - however strange it doesn't tell you....

Wesley, hosts a show in the USA
Tim Brunero, works with the ABC doing interviews etc, plus othe rmedia
And Peter, that 2nd year winner, went on to become a doctor.

And really odd they never mentioned Gordon, becoming a human shield, and then later dying (no connection with the shield).

What is Drew doing nowdays anyone?

Lady in red! Jade Albany stuns in plunging scarlet gown at Dally M Awards as she hits back at fat shaming cyber trolls

Former Big Brother favourite Jade Albany found herself the victim of faceless cyber bullying recently when Instagram users left hurtful comments about her weight beside a photo of her in a bikini.
But the 23-year-old reality television star brushed off the controversy and silenced any critics on Monday evening when she stepped out looking fabulous in a stunning scarlet gown.
Arriving at the Dally M awards at The Darling Hotel in Sydney, the blonde beauty channelled old Hollywood chic in the structured frock that hugged every inch of her svelte figure.

Lady in red: Jade Albany stuns in structured scarlet gown at the Dally M Awards at The Darling Hotel in Sydney on Monday evening
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on the red carpet, the fitness fanatic revealed she received a series of negative comments suggesting she was overweight after she shared an image of herself in her swimwear.
'That was a bit hard to swallow,' she confessed.
'I guess it's just about learning that someone's always going to hate you no matter what you look like. You're always either too skinny or too fat.
'I'm a size 6 so I wouldn't really call that fat!'

The former Big Brother star channeled old Hollywood chic in the tight-fitting Doll House design that featured a plunging neckline
The negative experience hasn't altered Albany's perception of self however, and she appeared very body confident at the NRL's night of nights.
The former Channel Nine star's bright design featured a daring plunging neckline that left little to the imagination and finished in a dramatic fishtail.
Her long blonde locks were swept to one side and cascaded down her shoulder in tight curls and she matched her lips to the colour of her frock with lashings of ruby red lipstick

He walked away with $250,000 when he won last year's Big Brother show but money and fame doesn't seem to have changed Tim Dormer.
The larger than life, flame-haired joker was spotted in Bondi on Saturday enjoying a meal al fresco.
He looked as happy as Larry surrounded by his pals sitting in the gutter eating his takeaway meal.

He sported a white singlet, emblazoned with Bondi, multi-coloured tie dye shorts and black flip slops for his day out.

Although he also wore a large pair of silver-rimmed, blue aviators, there was no mistaking the TV personality - and all because of his popular ringlets.
Clearly enjoying the beginning of summer on one of the world's best-known beaches, Tim also attempted the tight-rope.

When he returned on last week's show, he told Daily Mail Australia the thing he couldn't wait for most was to see his real life housemate, Jake's face.
When Tim sat on the couch afterwards with host Sonia Kruger, he mentioned that he thought Skye and Lawson both have a good chance of winning the show.
