Yay! March is here!

Let's hope it will be just as great as February.

Big things happening in March.

One year anniversary of this thread!

Date!

Plus heaps of other stuff I haven't even thought of yet.

Though March is still not as good as May.

Now that Dick Smith is dead and buried, the schadenfreude's company to watch is Slater and Gordon, ASX code SGH. They will be busy spending the next month convincing creditor banks that they can repay a near billion dollar debt, despite already losing money. This is a particularly interesting company fall, as Slater and Gordon are known to many as the bottom of the barrel, ambulance chasing vexatious litigators of spurious and outlandish cases. They used to be the go to lawyers if a grape caused you emotional distress. Far from having friends to help them out, there will be many dancing on their grave. There is a little bit of distance between the height of their depths and now, but they used to be the flagship rainmaking law firm and them going under will be a landmark.

It's also interesting, in that law firms don't really have tangible assets. They get their money from taking their cut from court cases, so they will be meeting with creditors armed only with a bunch of future IOU court cases in prospect to pay a billion dollar debt. It will also be good for them, in that if the creditors choose to receive, they will get very little compared to companies with disposable assets. In any event, this will be messy, as no class action can responsibly choose S&G to represent them given their parlous state.

i've seen their ads on tv.

They've toned down a lot since listing on the stock exchange. They used to have the rumoured reputation of supplying neck braces to their clients back in the 80s/90s
