What would reepbot say?

I would keep it too. Then i would spend it all on yummy junk food on the same day.
I found a $20 sitting in the middle of an idle empty elevator. I figure it's some nice person's version of Pay it forward, so I spread some happy vibes in here.[DOUBLEPOST=1451966330][/DOUBLEPOST]I think you probably lose more than you find :p

What do you mean by that?

Nup. Future people could interrupt a TV broadcast or satellite dish with a message if it was even 1/10th possible. You can alter time a fraction with gravity, acceleration or speed, but not in a useful way that humans could survive. I will be surprised if humans complete a manned complete orbit of the Sun independent of the Earth within my lifetime and that would be 10,000 times easier than reaching another solar system or appreciable time travel.

In your study, do look up slingshot trajectories and how the fastest objects humans have ever produced would take many generations to reach the closest solar system to our own. They'd have to do the bulk of that travelling in near complete darkness.
Space elevators? What are their ultimate limiting parameters? I remember vaguely the Arthur C Clarke fiction on it but I believe this will be a reality of some sort in the not too distant future? Im kinda interested in this stuff but donot know that much about it. Could you give a brief kinda synopsis on the elevators Wittty? If its not too much trouble or guides for further reading?

They are basically connecting a form of satellite in geostationary+ orbit to the Earth to overcome the immense weight that a normal structure would require and couldn't cope with. It can just use centrifugal force and tension to allow efficient breaking of Earth's gravity. You wouldn't want an encounter with space junk or half will collapse and the other half will fly into space. The biggest stopper is probably just that you need one to build one :p They probably have suitable materials right now, but even being 95% complete wouldn't be enough to support itself.

Have you ever wondered what would happen on a planet shaped like a donut? If you believe in the concept of centre of gravity, you would fall into the hole in the middle. The centre of gravity is a silly abstraction and nonsense.

Yeah. My thoughts initially would be how the hell would they be able to protect it from all the space flotsam and jetsam.
Are there any actual studies being conducted on the feasibility of building one? Or is just scientific coffee talk?

Even Elon Musk has ruled it out for the present, and he rules nothing out. They investigated and said it was materials that prevented it right now...I interpret that as it needs to be very light to build it, as it can be substantially heavier once under tension. If they can make a carbon nanotube rope things might change very quickly. I rank some form of geostationary tether a 'maybe-likely' in our lifetime.

I think you would leave a trail of loose change as you thought deep and meaningful things. The same with walking into poles.

Yuck. I bought awful black olives when the green ones are nice. Curses.

I can be very absent minded at times.

And green olives are always better.

Thanks for that. I guess that is what interests me. That there is a faint glimpse of the tangibility of it in our lifetimes. It would be a significant watershed moment in human space exploration. Not to mention the whole new raft of possibilities that would open up as a result of it.
I just like that thin wire between the human conceptual and the actual.

@reepbot have you seen this?
Looks interesting.

Living With Autism

SBS HD, 11:00pm, Tue, 5 Jan 2016, 60 minutes

REPEAT

When pioneering developmental psychologist Professor Uta Frith started her training back in the 1960s, she met a group of beautiful, bright eyed young children, who seemed completely detached from the rest of the world. It turned out they had just been given the, then new, diagnosis of autism. Uta passionately wanted to know more about these children and they inspired her to dedicate the rest of her career to studying the autistic mind.

the bridge between imagination and reality can be tricky.

no i have not seen that. thanks for the info. i used to be really obsessed with all autism/aspergers stuff. it really is quite a fascinating area to look into.

Life is full of surprises. And you even surprised yourself!

i constantly surprise and scare myself. like i might be looking in the mirror, but then turn away for a split second, but when i look back i get a bit of a fright. also sometimes my dog would appear out of nowhere and i would get a bit of a fright out of that. just because it was a bit surprising.

I know you guys were desperate for the latest Vanderpump Rules updates - Tom Schwartz and Katie are now engaged! At Tom Sandoval's birthday. Next week is the crews trip to Hawaii. Still waiting for Stassi's appearance

How is Kristen?

How is Kristen?

Great. People are pissed in general she isn't invited to Tom Sandoval and Jax's bday in Hawaii, other than Tom Sandoval and Ariana. A lot of people get along with Kristen, but Tom Sandoval and Ariana are being total bitches, and saying that anyone who gets along with her must be against them. Does this sound familiar? I feel like it sounds familiar

Eerily familiar. Poor Kristen. I hope it gets better for her. Silly Tom. Why does he do that?

Well, he and Kristen were in a relationship for a long time. She hurt him and he hasn't forgiven her. He claims he loves Ariana, but I don't think I will believe him until he lets go of his hate towards Kristen
