I've never heard of anyone on the DSP who can afford private health insurance. In fact, I think that is the point of being on a pension, that you can't afford health insurance, and need the government to support you. There are a lot of elderly frail people who I meet who don't get a pension because of that, even though they are incontinent and need assistance to get out of beds and chairs, and all the disabled young adults I meet can't afford it, and I am talking people in power wheelchairs who need ceiling hoists to move them.
