Well I remember a lot of the music that was played during my formative years, even songs that I detested. ie.
That was a hideous disgusting song, makes me shudder listening to it for just 2 seconds.
It makes sense since one the most popular hobbies for kids is to listen to music, especially from the Top 40 chart. I'd think it odd if someone growing up in the 90s didn't remember a substantial amount of hits of that decade.
If someone went through school in the 80s than it'd make some sense given that you tend to listen to current pop music less and less from your 20s onwards.
