Good for you, that sounds great. Not so much today, but last week I started studying a bachelors degree in Film. Television & Animation majoring in Screen Production and minoring in Animation. After two long overseas trips that allowed me to finally spend time soul searching I've just decided to actually study what I'm interested in. Psychology was and still is something that I'm fascinated in but maybe not so much for a career, but at least I will always have it to fall back on if I need a plan B. This may not lead to anything, or maybe it will, who knows? I won't know unless I try!

I have known many a young person to get sucked in by these animation schools, complete with their slick marketing and folio interviews, thinking they will become Hollywood animators, only to end up working for Woolies due to an oversupply of graduates and an undersupply of jobs in this competitive field.

Hmm. What you end up doing with it depends where you get your Psychology Bachelors from.As someone who did a bachelors in Psychology and then has never really done anything with it I wholeheartedly support this!!
One university in my capital city churns out research-ready but not practice-ready Psych graduates.
Another university in my capital city churns out practice-ready but not research-ready Psych graduates.
Plus there are plenty of jobs with a title other than Psychologist where said degree can be used.
Or maybe why I did not disclose this information and more about myself on the forum is that I did not wish to. I said enough to convey a message without making it all about me. This conversation was and should be about celebrating a milestone in @Zcsund1234 life not your thoughts on my life decisions.Hmm. What you end up doing with it depends where you get your Psychology Bachelors from.

Thank you! Psychology was my favourite subject in school and I kind of just figured I'd study it in uni, without much of a plan afterwards. I studied during covid which made me really hate it and I had little to zero motivation at all, hence why I didn't get the marks to get into honours so I had to go into a graduate diploma since you can't really do too much with just a bachelors. The thought of doing more research papers and looking at statistics for however much longer made me feel uneasy, anxious and burntout. The travelling was the best thing I did to allow myself breathing room to focus on myself. Earlier in the year I just thought fuck it study what I'm actually interested in reading about in my own time. If it leads to nothing then at least I've tried. As someone who did a bachelors in Psychology and then has never really done anything with it I wholeheartedly support this!!
Not going to an animation school, its the same university I studied my undergrad psych degree at. Animation isn't my focus, its just the minor stream I chose. My major is screen production.I have known many a young person to get sucked in by these animation schools, complete with their slick marketing and folio interviews, thinking they will become Hollywood animators, only to end up working for Woolies due to an oversupply of graduates and an undersupply of jobs in this competitive field.

Good luck! Fingers crossed, we may even see your name on the end credits as a BBAU producer in the years ahead. Not going to an animation school, its the same university I studied my undergrad psych degree at. As the hottest part of the year approaches (April is brutal) I also bought an AC for the living room and had that installed yesterday. I've stress tested it and can run the AC and take a shower simultaneously now. And right now I'm running the dishwasher while also washing the dogs' bedding at 60C.
After I own the house outright in a couple of months I'll be doing some renovating to tweak the layout and will get solar panels and a battery so I'll be completely self sufficient with no more brownouts or power cuts.

Spent way too much time politely going back and forth with one of our TL’s trying to explain that if they make a “SPECIFIC” request I will action said request however I cannot figure out what needs to be fixed and then fix it. Makes me seem like a dick when I have the ability to do so but we’ve been specifically told we aren’t allowed to do what they were asking for and I even sent them a snipe of the procedure that says I can’t. So frustrating

That said I spend way too much time running around apologizing for things I do that I totally think are normal that others find offensive but also on the other hand the stress of obsessing over what to say/dissecting these situations is also overwhelming at times. Which I kind of how I ended up in this position in the first place.
OOOOoooh yep, the "carefully crafting a response" these days is the worst, cos you can't just say it how it is. Cos peeps like to flick & pass your email to anybody & everybody whilst editing out their own shiz. Screen shots ftw.I guess the most frustrating thing about the whole situation was the amount of time and energy that went in to carefully crafting the response to be work appropriate and appropriate for someone that’s “higher up” vs what it would have taken to just say what I wanted to say directly (ie. what my TL told them and why).

Luckily things don’t get that catty in my workplace. I’m in the public service which is both a blessing and a bit of a curse.OOOOoooh yep, the "carefully crafting a response" these days is the worst, cos you can't just say it how it is. As for it getting sorted out, it did. My TL is aware these types of situations come up and is happy to step in if needed.
Seriously covid has taught some people nothing. I am sitting in a doctors waiting room and there is a woman sitting here who cannot stop coughing, so is quite probably infectious with something if not covid. She is not wearing a mask or even trying to cover her mouth as she coughs. She is a stereotypical Karen looking woman so i think people suspect or already know what will happen if they say anything to her not even the staff has.
