Tim "staining Ed's image"

...especially after how Jade reacted after nominations last week when Tim and Drew both nominated her. The sense of rejection and thin-skinned overreaction barely masked her indignation that people she had conducted a faux-friendship with would stoop so low to nominate her. Unrealistic expectations + sense of entitlement + manufacturEd outrage reinforcement from Mr Integrity = fairy princess bubble went pop!

Yep this. And because his family & cronies are so overtly trying to orchestrate a win that would be thoroughly undeserved. Yes, Ben was despicable, Ed is not quite. I could see him being a lovely man outside the house, whereas I could see Ben being just as evil in real life. Ben certainly didn't deserve the win, but then we didn't see his loved ones being hypocritical for slagging off other HMs online for slagging Ed who slagged them off in the first place. Or desperately recruiting celebrities to support him. Or conducting corrupt competitions to gain votes.

Ed doesn't "own" any of his behaviour & neither do his loved ones. In a variety of ways - UTR, holding back, boring-ness, treatment of Jade, projection of his faults onto Tim & Drew, wrongful denial of ANY wrongdoing EVER - Ed's behaviour has been less than exemplary. Yet he stills acts like the sun shines out his arse, and his loved ones speak of him like he's Mother fucking Teresa.

Tim had a fake birthday (funny!)and Ed decides to lead a mutiny about his bullying (ergh fail). Ed started attacking Tim ages ago yet tries to act like he is some innocent himself. Some gallant man coming to the rescue of the poor housemates. He acts high and mighty accusing others of the things he does himself. That's what I don't like.

He also is boring TV. Not a crime but not worthy of winning either. And I gotta say having the family drum up support like they are is bugging me now. Doesn't seem fair

With guys, pulling the whole footy card and get them to care and like him. With chicks his whole good looks, ripped body and 'nice guy' attitude. Which probably helps him with guys as well.

He doesn't associate with people that don't automatically like him and worship him. He wouldn't give them time of day in the real world. He'd just move on or not be around people that aren't so superficial and vapid. So he is really out of his comfort zone in the house. This really is a big untold story because the narrative and perception of jock types like him on TV never shows this side to the lives they lead.

It's all just, yeah they're awesome great people. Living great lives. That's why people are always 'shocked' when a footy player gets caught doing something retarded. It should be expected, but the industry around it is about people bringing kids into competitive sports as participates and viewers for life. Big bucks to be made for that. You have to get them young though.

So this marketing idea of 'sportsmanship' that footy is meaningful, that it creates well rounded people suited for great lives is just a marketing ploy. In mass media it serves them to just run with this narrative. When really sports star jocks are just pampered idiots, who get a huge amount of praise for very little. Think they're amazing and untouchable and so lie, cheat womanise and all sorts of horrible things as a result.

Anyway....


The problem with Tim in the house is that Ed knew Tim would never fall for any of this superficial shit and that Ed has nothing else to offer. So Tim was an enemy. He stood out like this from the get go with Ed. Now that his group and team is down to two, he's blaming Tim more and more. He can't comprehend how he isn't the most popular and loved person in the house. So there for Tim has to be to blame.

Jade is actually quite similar to Ed with regards to this. Except she goes emotional when people don't like her. When she can't comprehend she isn't the blond princess getting what she wants and thinks she deserves. Where as Ed goes paranoid crazy but stays more composed.

Mik was similar also but was lead on by Eds paranoia and probably was manipulated a bit into having a confrontation with Tim. The only possible way Boog couldn't love and be besties with her was because Tim had poisoned the well and made her dislike her.

There's no actually accounting of ones self or self realisation. Tim has been very vocal and honest about his opinion and game playing. That the've constructed a fantasy level to it. To explain why they aren't doing better. As they could never face the fact that maybe they aren't as universally well loved as they think.

I agree with Ed attacking Tim out of jealousy - it is the whole jockeying for status thing primates do and Ed can't believe he's not at the top. He wouldn't be friends with smart guys like Drew and Tim in the real world so he finds it confronting that they have no interest in being his followers.
I disagree on the Jade assessment. She's not entitled - she just found the most innocuous guy in the house to latch on to so she feels safe - 'cos she's insecure.
It's like Revenge of the Nerds with the jock being bested by a non-jock and Ed can't handle it.
 
He has never forgiven Tim for referring to him as a meathead, when he got to overhear Tim's nomination. Because he is a meathead.
