Tim Dormer back in the House

This is the last straw for me. I have nothing against Tim, but this EP who has probably received directives from Nine to improve ratings has destroyed Big Brother Australia. Sending in a housemate who was
a) the winner of last season
b) who has connections to one of the housemates
c)purely sent back in to boost ratings.

It really is just disgusting.

The fact that Endemol has let channel Nine have so much control over the format is ludicrous, I am actually going to be sending them an email with how disappointed I am. I think we should all let our feelings known to them, because they have really f**ked up here.
-Letting Nine have No live feeds
-The fact its online presence has been diminished to a catch-up site
-Social media being run by a guy for Nine who lives in India and uses the auto queue tweet function and the lack of ANY live updates
-The soap opera style editing with diary room narration
-Showing us housemates being hungry for a whole 90 minutes then, Nominations show housemates are nominating each other for reasons/topics/discussions that were NEVER shown.
-The lack of LIVE shows that are actually live
-The EP being given the spotlight like he's the ultimate friend of all of the housemates.

That's just a few points.

Nine I am furious and I will probably be dropping out of watching now. The last two years it happened about 4 weeks out from the finale, and this year you have managed to make me tune out in just under two weeks.

Both Channel 9 and the executive producers are at fault. The EP's have no idea what Big Brother is about and are hungry for ratings. At the end of the day they think they know best. If only they listened to the fans ideas and needs there would be more interest and everybody would be a lot happier. They are just continuing with gimmick after gimmick, contrived content, family friendly to please politicians who wouldn't even watch the show in the first place and lack of any information outside the TV show (no live feeds/tweets, videos online).

The majority of us here probably know how to run Big Brother better than them. This will probably be the last year and then I hope Network 10 take on the show and hire some executive producers who have faith in the the original concept and won't manipulate stuff for ratings (*cough* proposal...). Keep it close to it's roots. Network 10 might be interested in the show again since they have commissioned "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Here" for 2015 so are looking for reality juggernauts. Maybe 2016 will be the year for BB? Or best case scenario that 10 picks up BB from Nine in December for 2015. Holds auditions April-May. And bring the show back in August-November but that might be too soon and Nine would make it difficult for 10. I can even see 10 getting Carrie Bickmore from "The Project" for host but I do think we need a new talent but someone like Gretel who has a bit of humour and can ask the tough questions on housemates behaviour. Preferably a female host.

This screams of desperation to me. This is starting to remind me of the last Big Brother on Ten, where they threw any gimmick they could at the show ( Pamela Anderson, Corey Worthington, Carson etc.). When you have to resort to putting in last year's housemates only two weeks into a season to keep things entertaining, you know something is seriously wrong.

Truthfully I think they always meant to bring him onto the show, but I am thinking they put him in earlier than planned as a reactionary move to the declining ratings.

Yeah he was going to be involved from the beginning, you could see it from the promos, but I agree with Butterface in that Tim probably was only notified of his upcoming involvement not too long ago.
I don't think 9 predicted this season would be this bad - they probably thought they'd need Tim eventually to spice things up a bit but sticking him in this early seems like a desperate move on their part, and most likely it wasn't planned. Everything recently reeks of superficiality.
Yeah I agree. And as big of a BB fan as Tim is, I don't think even he would've expected that this would be the level of his involvement because it really hasn't been done before that I recall. Sending in an ex HM for a task or whatever is one thing but not to actually live in the house for x amount of days. It IS desperate on their part and I'm loving that they have to admit that they have to resort to this.

A big brother all stars with the most popular hms & people who didn't really get long ie. estelle, ben, other pot stirrers etc (of course tim cause he's the most entertaining anyone's ever been) would've been a lot more interesting to watch than this horse shit.
(not including David cause he's growing on me)

I don't know how to feel about this.

On the one hand, sending in ex-housemates to draw the viewer in is a crock of shit. Do they have such a low opinion of their housemates this year, that they have to trot out all the old housemates as an insurance plan? They are clearly hoping Tim will help entice back all the people who watched last year and have abandoned the show this year. Tim was a great housemate, and he really was one of the big reasons why BB10 was so much more enjoyable than BB9, but Tim not being in the house this year is really not the problem, and until they actually pay attention to what the fans of the show are saying LOUD AND CLEAR, this season will never reach its potential. It's time they stop being so fucking stubborn, juvenile and self-righteous all the time and actually take on board the criticism they receive from their viewers - you know, the people who actually deliver those precious ratings you so desperately desire? You can't just bring in Tim whenever things are looking down, he won't always be there to bail you out of all your shitty decisions.

On the other hand, I will admit I am slightly excited about this. If they had to trot out any of the ex-housemates, I'm glad it's Tim. Tim was partly why there was no clear "group" in BB10, and that was one of the things I despised about BB9. To see one forming already in BB11 is a worry, so hopefully if this stunt gives us anything, it will be the discouraging of this new single-minded group forming and to encourage the housemates to operate as individuals. At least Tim's opinions align with all of mine right now, so hopefully his influence will help to improve the current group dynamic.

Agreed. If they wanted to cash in on already popular housemates, they may as well have just gone ahead with a series of Big Brother: All Stars.

I don't think the choice of HM's is that bad. I actually think it is a good mix of HM's. But taking away the Live Feed and all live aspects of the show just makes them all seem like actors, and makes it seem they are trying to coerce us into liking certain HM's eg. Skye. There was a lot of coercion last year (especially by HM's in the Diary Room using tears or bitching), but most people could see enough on TV and on the Live Feed to make intelligent decisions about HM's.

The funny things is that Alex said that Tim raised the bar last year, then he said the he didn't fill the house with a bunch of Tims. :bang:
He bloody should of, because these current HMs are just a bunch of sheep, bar a few.
That's why I'm hoping he goes in there and throws it in Alex's face. In his video he mentioned pepperoni nips and something else that was straight off the forum so we know he was reading other threads and in the podcast he basically stated a bunch of things about HMs that many on here have said. They didn't want a bunch of Tims, fair enough, but the cast last year was MILES above this shitshow and no, I'm not going to say it's solely editing or lack of live feeds (although both are a large part of it) because many of them seem just blah even when we see heaps of them...so I'm loving that he needs to bring in the one person who he didn't want to replicate this year to try to save them. To be fair I would've been happy with most of the '13 cast returning, or at least say the top 10, but this is just icing on the cake.

LOL at how fake some of their VT's are as well...

"I am trustworthy BUT don't even think about crossing me, unless you know what is good for you!" <-- still waiting for this.

Except, in BB history, no housemate has ever been as boring as Xavier, Sharon, Jasmine, Ed, Matt and Rohan. :hungover:
I beg to differ. This years selection is by far the WORST selection of housemates in BBAU. I am seriously not sure I can stand too much more of them. Skye is the only one imo that is doing anything to keep me watching. The others, are boring as batshit.

She's pretty boring too...

F*ck this shit - no wonder I am not voting.

Jordan, I am struggling with Skye too, trust me. Skye is the only one so far that has kept me watching. I am so disappointed overall with the selection of housemates we have this year.

Obviously to boost ratings on a very suck-worthy season!

@mikeygold Nice podcast Mikey! Best thing BB could've done putting @timdormer back in. Might save the series for you @AlexMavroidakis

Funny you say. Because, from last year, I only liked Ben, Jade, Tully, Drew and Tim.

The rest were either boring or plain crap (and don't let me start with the intruders). Tahan and Mikkayla were so overhyped and I never understood their 'appeal'.

Yes, this year is almost as bad with the casting, but at least there aren't totally 'nonexistent' housemates in the likes of Sharon, Jasmine, Xavier. This year's 'least' popular housemates like Cat, Jake and Gemma have grown into more in a week than last year's early evictees ever did.

I'd like to see a twist where Tim becomes a legit housemate then if he wins this time the prize money goes to someone drawn out of a hat (or by his selection) and it's chosen straight up. Then BB rigs it (like only David in the hat) so that if he wins it'll automatically go to David. The reactions of the housemates would be amazing given how popular they know Tim was.

I honestly think it's a great thing...
He's probably only there to give advice...and reading his thoughts on the article on jump in they reflect those of the majority of us so I don't know what the problem is..I understand the whole no contact concept but I think this will create a new dynamic to the game

Also - what is this format thing they have on Wikipedia?
What is the difference between Nominated (post-save) and Saved exactly?
