Turns out Luigi Mangione now has $40,000 sitting in his prison commissary account, courtesy of thirsty fans who can't stop supporting him.
The 27-year-old is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while facing federal charges for allegedly shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last December. TMZ reports he's accumulated the five-figure balance during his 10-month incarceration.
His lawyers have had to ask supporters to limit photo mailings to five at a time because prison rules only allow inmates to have 25 single-sided photos - and fans have been flooding him with images.
Meanwhile, his legal defense fund has raised over $1.3 million. He was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after a five-day manhunt and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Between the $40k in commissary and $1.3 million in legal fees, this man's support system is more dedicated than most people's actual relationships.
In other Luigi news: Shein had to pull a product listing in September after shoppers noticed the model for a $10 floral button-down shirt looked suspiciously like him - despite the fact he's been locked up since December.
The fast-fashion retailer blamed a third-party vendor and launched an investigation,
but the shirt nearly sold out before they removed it.
