The Traitors

The UK version returns on New Years Day with a major twist to be revealed, teased in the promos by a red cloak suggesting they'll be some kind of 'red traitor" even more powerful than the regular Traitors.

So... Any bets on how long until we get the obligatory shot of a hot muscular guy in the shower? Or who it will be?

I am a little suspicious that they kept showing the family tree photo thing by the front door... I'm wondering if there is more secret relationships that will come out over time than just Roxy and Judy. I think Netty revealing she knew Ross was something production weren't expecting her to do...

It would be a really good idea if all the contestants were in secret pairs.

I think the detective is the secret traitor.

All I could think during the third episode's mission was that I wouldn't mind seeing Jack get milked. 😂

…last year I watched the UK Celebrity version of this and was immediately drawn in… and the eventual winner… I couldn’t have been happier… now I’m watching Season one of UK regular series… and… have watched the first 3 episodes of this Uk series for this year (thanks to my friend Lightening McQueen letting me know that it was available on 10 Play)… I love the shows… I love the concept and I love Claudia doing the show…

…and there are Canadian and USA versions too eh?… and… there is going to be an Aussie version too with Gretal Killeen hosting it too apparently… aw man!… I can’t wait!…

…these shows may just be my favourite new ‘Reality’ show now that I’m a Celeb / Big Brother (and now the Pags has gone)… Survivor have gone to total shit… can’t wait to see Gretal… I’ll probably be on this thread more now because of my new found passion… cheers.

I know there's a US version, in fact the celebrity US version should be starting in the next few days, and will also be able to be streamed on 10play fast tracked.

I'm looking forward to the US civilian series later this year that got announced last year. The current US show is just... meh. The last season especially just felt like they mostly cast people that either were just there for their appearance fee or were hamming it up to "make good TV". With very few actually really caring about the game.

Yes, very little enthusiasm for the US version - it's basically akways Housewives v Survivor players and they stick to their cliques.

The UK version has literally just had one of it's best cliffhangers ever and it was set up by the players, not the producers.

I was almost right with the secret traitor. I thought it was
Amanda
but
Fiona
was my second choice.
It was obviously
a blonde woman
based on the footage shown, and I thought it would have to be someone who could think like a criminal. So
a detective or a crime writer
seemed most likely.

Haven’t started the newest US yet (this time last year I would’ve said the US version was my favourite) but oh my god, latest UK season is popping off. The last few eps have been so so so good.

I swear Studio Lambert uses the US show as a live trial to test things out before filming the UK show as the "real show". Apparently each year the US show is always filmed first.

I'm so glad too we didn't get Alan Cumming. He was asked to do the UK version too but had a filming clash. The first series or two I thought him and Claudia were on a par and enjoyed watching both but I think Claudia is just getting better and better in the role now whikst Alan hams it up too much.

Finally caught up on the first six episodes of Traitors UK, and just like the celebrity version late last year, I'm so hooked.
For some strange reason, I honestly thought that maybe
Jade
might have been the secret traitor, only because
during her little talk with Claudia on the first episode, she said she'd prefer to be a faithful and I thought they might instead try putting her out of her comfort zone.
However, I also thought it could be
Fiona
which it was, because I figured things might get chaotic if that be the case, and they certainly did!

Making a start on the US version. The first seasons were on a par but the UK version is now leagues ahead - it's the casting which is really so poor with the "gamers" and focus on alliances actually ruining the game because that isn't how you play The Traitors effectively.

Is interesting though from a production point of view to see the differences between the two - the US have also done the Secret Traitor twist but the Secret Traitor does not know who the other traitors are. I think the US version filmed first, in between the celeb and regular UK series.

I have some thoughts about a way they could mix up the format.

In the next season, have a "core" group of traitors, keep the "secret traitor" format, but this time make EVERY remaining player a secret traitor. Let everyone know that there are secret traitors, but don't say how many.

Obviously this will mean that traitors will have to be able to be put up for murder. As for committing the murders, have all the secret traitors vote for one person to be up for murder (out of who they think are faithful) and have the core traitors choose who to murder out of the three (?) who have the highest votes.

Could you imagine the round table discussions if everyone was a traitor? I'm not sure how to end the game though, I think eventually everyone would clock onto the twist. Maybe towards the end the winner could be decided by a jury of the people that have been banished? This could distinguish the murdered from the banished - if you're murdered, you're dead, if you're banished, you're still alive, you can get your revenge.

Thoughts?

For the UK show, I wish they had told the original three Traitors that the Secret Traitor would be revealed once the first of them had been banished.

It would've created an interesting dilemma for the three - do they throw someone under the bus to reclaim full Traitors power or do they let the ST have full control? And even if they all agreed to leave the ST in control, they all still would've been paranoid that they might be the one getting thrown under the bus by the other two as well.

Fuck, I love this franchise. Just caught up with the US season. Honestly not as bad as everyone seems to be making it out to be. The only thing I don’t like, which I was reminded of after watching it again, is how overly produced theirs is compared to the UK version (i.e. obvious re-shoots, scripted moments, overly edited reaction shots, etc). I also like how UK is more transparent about the production side of things, such as the contestants not sleeping at the castle overnight, whereas US makes a big song and dance about them going upstairs to bed each night, even though I don’t think they actually sleep there.

That aside, by the latest episode, this season grew on me and I think the chosen Traitors are a brilliant match. Also, how can anyone not love Alan, his accent and those outfits?!

Equally loving this US season as much as UK, even if they have borrowed some exact challenges and twists from each other. Shame UK ends in a couple weeks - the 3 episodes per week cycle is both a blessing and a curse - but at least we’ll have more Traitors to see us through for a while… US runs through to the end of February, by which time I suspect we’ll get some word on when AU may start.

…after watching the UK Celebrity version I was so hooked that I have now finished the whole UK Season 1… bloody fabulous!… it had me riveted from Episode one… so many twists and turns… so much crying and meltdowns… and that was just from some of the men!… lol!… the good thing about watching it on TenPlay is that you can usually watch 2 or 3 episodes back to back each night…

…there were people that I loved and a few I hated as per usual but man!… what an ending… I was wishing so much for the right ending and… it actually happened!… Claudia is magnificent in the role… in shows like ‘8 out of 10 cats does Countdown’ and ‘Would I Lie To You?’ she’s always a dipsy airhead type… her patter is scattered all over the place and she never completes sentences… but on ‘Traitors’ she follows the scripts perfectly… I really can’t picture anyone else in the role to be honest… she’s marvellous…

…I can’t wait to see Australian Traitors with Gretel Killeen hosting it… she’ll be fantabulous in it without skipping a heartbeat I’m sure…

…anyway… Claudia… UK Traitors Season 1… bloody well done!… **Sticky claps**… now to start UK Season 2… can’t wait… cheers.
