...the many things that you remember as a kid or teenager...

View attachment 50528

...I remember as this being my earliest childhood memory... it was my uncle Fred holding me for the photo of me in Trafalgar Square in the middle of London... I was terrified of the pigeons when they landed on me to be fed... I remember that time with so much clarity that it's ridiculous lol!...

...get a load of this outfit that I was wearing in about 1954 methinks... what were my mum and dad thinking dressing me like that?????...I was a BOY for crying out loud!!!... I sometimes wonder if they dressed me to look so 'innocent' because they may have both had premonitions or something that I was going to be a little horrible bastard of a kid or something?... (karma?)... lol!...

...I asked my mum as to why she dressed me in such cringeworthy clothing once and she got really annoyed with me and said... "do you realise that when you were born and we were finally able to dress you in 'proper clothes' (whatever that meant?... I'm guessing that it meant our 'Sunday's Best' clothing)... that we spent almost all of your father's weekly wage just to buy you that outfit?... we went without a lot of stuff that week just so you could have something really nice to wear for a change!... so don't tell me that you looked silly in it!... you should appreciate what we went without just so that you could wear it!... (or words very similar)...

...I was well and truly told wasn't I?... apparently they went to 'Harrods' in the posh part of London to buy the outfit... it was the poshest posh store and the most expensive store out of all of them... I felt like an ungrateful little brat at about 18 when I said it lol!... we were quite poor way back then... (living in the slum area of London should've been my main clue lol!)... I guess we forget what our parents give up lots of things to enable us kids to have a better life eh?... them emigrating to Australia was for us to have a better future as you can guess...

...so yeah... I was well and truly told by mum... lol!... no worries... I deserved it for being so ungrateful methinks lol!... cheers.

Awww ridiculous outfits on little kids look cute. At least that's what I tell my son lol.

You looked so sweet and innocent there ;)

If Big Brother ever comes back can you please audition @Mr Stickyfingers?

...hahahaha!... do you know how many times that my friends and family and especially my grandkids have said that to me?.... the grandkids kept on at me all the time when Big Brother was on lol!... it would be a sort of holiday wouldn't it?... naaah!... I would probably have a go at the fellow housemates that 'fall in love' with 2 or 3 days and drag it out to the end and break up straight after... I would probably crack and tell them as it really is lol!... I would go out and try to sabotage it with all guns blazing... I hate those 'romances'... best not methinks lol!... cheers.

Wow there's a term I haven't heard in a very long time. Oh my I am like Insomniac and trying so hard not to burst out laughing at work (screaming laughing on the inside is very hard). Ooh wee what a story that one is re your nickname and telling mother that. :woot:

Pure genius..

P.S. My nickname was given to me by schoolmates in high school.

...with your great choices of music video clips in the other thread I can so understand why too!... lol!... you funky rocking little groover you lol!... you would've been a hoot to have as a friend at School... we would've got on well... we have such similar tastes in music... cheers.

...haha!... that didn't last too long did it?... "those were the days my friend"... (cue the Mary Hopkins song)... lol!... cheers.

...I remember my first ever job in Australia when I worked for 'Permewan's Grocery Store' when I was 14 or so stacking shelves and packing groceries in brown paper bags because plastic bags weren't invented yet...

...I remember being paid a whopping $9 per week to do that job... (it was a lot of money for me at that age )... lol!...

...I remember losing that job because I 'accidentally' kicked a customers yapping dog as I was carrying her groceries to her car... (yes... customers could take their dogs into stores back then)...

...I remember thinking that I was 'hard done by' and pushed over a display stand of Mayonaise on the way out of the store after being sacked and smashing lots of jars and leaving Mayonaise all over the floor because I was so annoyed about being sacked... (I eventually had to pay money for that too after the store manager came to our house and told my parents)... lol!... cheers.

All the more reason to do it. Seriously you'd be so entertaining, pretty sure there has never been a great grandfather on BB in its entire global history too, surely.

...hahaha!... you really do have a good point there jessy_girl... the trouble is... I would annoy and irritate the rest of the housemates so much that I would be voted out first lol!... just ask my grandkids... stirring the shit out of them is a hobby for me!... I irritate them just to keep in practice so that I don't 'lose my touch' in being able to annoy people!... I limber up with them just to irritate the rest of my family once I've got my mojo going at the right pace lol!... cheers.

Okay, please forgive the quality of these, I had to take pictures of pictures that were stuck firmly in an album.
Firstly, what was with parents dressing their kids the same?
Yellow skivvy, wide plastic belt and jeans. Shoe half undone for me. Standard. I'm the blonde.

My sister and I had a few frocks the same, except one was blue and one was pink.

We were not well off when I was a kid and mum would buy material in bulk, then make 3 different styles of dress out of the same material for me and my two sisters. The orange crimplene trilogy was not her finest moment!
