The Block: Glasshouse

What a surprise

On channel 9 Gold Coast news last night, they were talking to Michael & Carlene & shock horror they have opened up a online business called Cedar & Suede.

It's a design & construct company.

It has nothing of interest on it yet.

The Block caught out faking a visit from the Environment Protection Authority in dodgy soil drama

TOP-rating TV show The Block has been caught out faking a visit from the Environment Protection Authority after discovering thousands of litres of fuel at The Glasshouse building site at Prahran in Melbourne.

Channel 9 claimed to have used an EPA representative to check for possible soil contamination from a huge fuel tank found at the High St site.

The inclusion of Victoria’s environmental inspection agency appeared to dramatically escalate the threat of contamination at the site.

But an investigation by Leader newspapers found the EPA had no involvement.

When Nine was asked who the “EPA” inspector on the show was, spokesman Terry Stuart admitted it was a case of “misidentification” and an “editing error”.

“He was, in fact, an environmental scientist hired by The Block Glasshouse to help us liaise with the EPA,” he said.

Mr Stuart said “extensive testing” was carried out on the site and the all-clear was given.

But there was also no liaison with the EPA about the pollution concerns.
EPA senior media adviser Terry Sefton said the agency had not inspected the site for at least the past 10 years.

During episode 44 of The Block Glasshouse, the site was found to have been an Ampol service station and a tank with about 15,000 litres of fuel was discovered underground.

Foreman Keith Schleiger was filmed phoning the EPA to ask if someone could “come down and have a look”.

In a voiceover, host Scott Cam said: “Back on the Block, the rep from the EPA has arrived and the news is not good”.

The “EPA rep” was introduced as “Chris” and was on site with Schleiger. Cam said:

“Chris from the EPA is taking a soil sample for testing.”

“Chris” said: “We’ll get this analysed at the lab and we’ll see if there’s any contamination.”

In Schleiger’s piece to camera, he referred to the tank find as “an absolute disaster”.

“We’re basically sitting on a bomb,” he said.

The episode then showed fuel being removed from the tank.

When the Stonnington Leader asked if the tank had been removed, Mr Stuart said: "Go back and watch” the show.

Isn't that classed as fraud.

Viewers knew it was a load of shit.

haha YES they're busted again!!

That whole thing was such a crock.

I remember that FB rant of Steve's where he was going off because they'd taken a chat he had with the furniture supplier and edited with bits of one from the bathroom supplier so they could make it seem like he wasn't prepared and didn't know what was going on.

Maybe if they stopped with bullshit like that they'd actually have time to show us renovating on a fricken reno show. I'm giving the next season one week... if it doesn't get better then I'm dropping it.

I have a source who tells me that Dee & Darren are signed to the next series, and it's going to be 'Demons and Angels'. Can't wait. I'm told Dee actually got a sweetheart edit this season in comparison with her usual demeanour and interactions. Darren too. Hope they let the editing team off the leash a bit more next time.

Ok, I have an update. Apparently the title 'Angels and Demons' has been ditched in favour of 'The Block: Triple Threat'. They are running eliminations again today. The contestants are currently comprised of three groups of new couples, and there are three established couples returning. As far as I know, there are only four apartments to work on, so there will have to be two more couples eliminated.

Dan from Season 5 is back, working as Keith's 'foreboy'.

Melbourne Cup 2014: The Block stars blow-up

BLOCKHEAD Karstan Smith has let rip on fellow contestant Dee Jolly, shouting at her in public following Channel Nine’s Melbourne Cup Eve party.

It has been suggested that Smith has been peeved at the Jollys since the show wrapped up.

But things reached boiling point after the Nine Network’s Melbourne Cup Eve party at Eureka Tower on Monday night, with the party then carrying on at The Emerson.

Our spy claimed Smith “tore shreds” into a shocked Dee at the South Yarra establishment, shouting at her in public and telling the mother-of-two, “what are you even doing here?”

“He just went mental in front of everyone, it was awful and we all felt really sorry for her,” our spy said.

“She told him he was being rude and acting irrationally.

“He just unleashed.”

Jealous of the Jollys instant star status and popularity from the show, tensions have said to be simmering for some time.

An industry insider alleges Karstan and newlywed Maxine Smith were in the show to “get famous and never work again”, quitting their respective jobs after getting on the reality renovation show and taking out a loan.

They claim the pair have hit the Melbourne party scene hard, going to “the opening of an envelope”.

“He is a reality show brat who is raising eyebrows and not winning any friends,” he said.

And news the couple will be returning on The Block’s next Darling Street series saw Karstan see red.

It is understood Dee held her head high during the outburst, later heading to the bar with fellow Blockhead Shannon who agreed Karstan was “out of order.”

A Channel Nine spokesman played down the bust up:

“Dee and Karstan always enjoy a bit of friendly banter.

“They shared a few words last night but there was nothing in it.”

Thought you would be interested in this.

As you know, I never like Max & Karstan. At least they got a free wedding out of the show.

Yeah I get that.. But thought no way they would do it again because she was always pissed off with the judging etc...

When the cheating story happened, I knew my gut feelings about them were correct.

But then I only liked Jenna & Chris.

Yes that wasn't right. I liked the brother as well. I was really happy for both teams to have gained a lot of money.

I have to say even though I didn't like some other teams, their results were sad. They still deserved more

I have to agree it was pretty sad to see some of the contestants come away with so little at the auction, but they apparently make a lot of additional cash doing the New Idea etc. features each week. I will have to ask my source about the conflict at the races. Darren is apparently still using standover tactics on the new set (they didn't show this much on the Glasshouse series, but there were a few examples of it on camera and off).

Only one I felt sorry for was Michael and Carlene - the others either cheated, got their wedding paid for and the other one was on a footballer's wage for 12 years.

The Block: Glasshouse begins Monday 24 November, 7:30pm on TV3 (New Zealand)

Reality-TV’s most hated couple Darren and Deanne Jolly are back for The Block Triple Threat

Joining Scott Cam for another season of The Block are George and Bec, Matt and Kim, and Darren and Deanne.

JUST a week after walking away from the last The Block auction with only $10,000 to show for three months work, Melbourne’s most-hated reality TV couple, Darren and Deanne Jolly, were back working on another season of Nine’s blockbuster soap-with-sawdust series.

Confirming widespread rumours of their return for the next spin-off, The Block: Triple Threat, the potty-mouthed Jollys backed up to challenge former fan favourites Bec and George Douros and Perth’s Kim Owen and Matt Di Costa for one spot for returning players in the 2015 competition.

Six teams of new players, yet to be announced, will contest a number of challenges, before being whittled down to a final three, who will then go on to renovate an apartment block in South Yarra, with the surviving fan favourite couple.

Jolly, who earned her villain status by calling judge Shay-nna Blaze a bogan and worse, told Luke Dennehy she was exhausted but happy to be back on the renovation show.

“We were devastated about how that ended,’’ she said.

“Then filming for this series started a week after that.

“So it was a lot for us to get our heads around to come back and put ourselves up for it again, so soon after that.”

Deanne Jolly said the week in between the two series was very difficult.

“It was really tough for us, and for all of the couples, even the ones who did win money, who were all so upset for us.

“It was one of those roller coaster weeks, where you just get through each day until you feel a bit better.

“We kind of gathered ourselves, and thought, let’s have another crack and this time hopefully have a more happier ending.’’

With filming continuing now, the series is expected to air in early February.

Well we know that they won the challenge by the article.

I must be the only person that thought Bec was a fake with her niceness all the time. She always gave me bitch vibe.

It must be this block of units.

Not a fan of any of those couples. I can see the entertainment value of the Jollys, but I didn't find Matt & Kim likeable or interesting in any way.
