The Bachelorette

I have to admit I call myself a consultant when people ask for a job title, only cos it is too hard to fit what I do into a title!

I've been in for a night of sleep tests at what was called the repatriation centre in SA. A whole bunch of people checked on me and monitored the stats during the night, but I must admit I just thought of them as "nurses" rather than "sleep technicians", it does seem a pretty specific niche to specialise in.

I would never have guessed what a rope technician does, it would make more sense to me if he was studying ropes under a miscroscope

I have friends who are Sleep Scientists - I'm guessing they are superior to Sleep Technicians. They analyse people's sleep patterns eg. do they need breathing help during sleep. I am thinking Sleep Technicians probably attach monitors to the people being analysed. Either way, your work is at night when everyone else is sleeping and you sleep during the day when everyone else is awake

It is a bit relevant to the Bachelor, as the original series was about snaring a rich bachelor...so much so that Joe Millionaire was created with the twist that he wasn't rich...but these days, Bachelors like Sean Lowe have never earned money. It does make a difference in their motivations with magazine deals etc if they are professional tarento aspirants.

I think Sam (male) tried to give an impression he was rich - Snez is only finding out now he just works at a gym

I know my post suggested otherwise, but I have no issue with Sam's job either way. As a largely unambitious person myself I am impressed by the many people who are the opposite to me but I also have no qualms with those who can get away with not working much, as well as those who are somewhere in the middle. I was more intrigued by the show focussing so much on Wood's business and mentioning it every episode but me knowing literally nothing about Frost and her employment history. But I guess that's just the nature of the show really.

Who cares what job she has. I sense a lot of scorn and judgement from some members here.

This. I've always hated how there seems to be this perception within society that what someone does (or doesn't do) for a living/to make money is somehow a reflection on their character.

We've all gotta make money and it's human nature for people to chose the path that delivers the biggest reward for the smallest effort. If Sam's found a way to use her profile to get out of the finance industry then good on her.

I've been flat out I tell ya! Haven't watched a minute of TV in past two days. Serious withdrawals so I'm settling in now to watch Thursday's ep and catch up on all the happenings in here.
You and me both!

I'm so exhausted, I swear I think I've lost a few kilos because I haven't even eaten this last week. I need life to slow down

I hope I see you peeps tonight if not

It's not a Bachie night tonight. Thankfully really as I probably wouldn't be able to watch live. Tomorrow night though... I'm so there. Hopefully you are too!

Oh, fuck. Do I have to issue another apology!

I lie about what I do when people ask, as I don't want to go into it. I could give a flying fruitcake what people do for a living. My favourite boyfriend of all time was a toilet cleaner. I thought we were just joking around and filling in time until the next exciting installment.

I STILL believe he was giving himself a throw-away job title and wasn't employed at all - otherwise how was he fitting in all the bike riding and why did his father tell him to get his act together?
