The Affable Thread

I was appalled by the group message I got invited to. Good choice to leave.

My last forum experience over at channel 10 forums many years ago, sadly was ruined by too many behind the scenes private "chit chats" and "chinese whispers" going on behind the scenes and I have vowed to never ever venture into any private messaging on this forum in any way shape or form.

I was also invited to join a group message chat a while ago here and this was the reason why I left that group and put on ignore. I will not go down the same path as I did on other forums again.

If something should be said I will say it only in the public forum nothing behind the scenes. Cheers! :)

Accusing someone of promoting bigotry and hatred so carelessly like you did. That's a really extreme and horrible thing to say. It undermines those actual issues.
Finally someone else said it! I was being painted as the poster boy for hatred and bigotry yesterday for simply stating we all need to be open minded and empathetic. I was also referred to as stupid and a coward. Apart from making me come out swinging to defend myself, it really undermines the real issues as you say! Nastiness is prevalent at the moment from a particular individual for no apparent reason.

I won’t start another war on my dear friends thread, but it’s nice to see some reasoned logic being applied, regardless of where we all sit on the political compass.

Being open minded and empathetic towards views that promote violence towards people is not the right thing to do. It is a cowardly position to take.

Also the fact that you are agreeing with someone who is obviously trolling means I'm finding it hard to take your opinion seriously.

We went through this yesterday, Columbo. I did not, and have not, ever stated that we should be empathetic or promote any views that promote violence or hatred. As you may recall, I addressed this with you yesterday:

That's not what I said at all you idiot. You've completely cherry picked an example and turned it into something its not.

If someone on here starts posting racist, homophobic, ageist slurs, then 100% call that shit out. But if someone says 'Scott Morrison is the greatest PM ever because xxxxx' then whilst I don't necessarily agree with them, I'll reflect on their opinion and make an informed judgment on my own. It's about embracing other peoples opinions to open your eyes to things you might not normally see.

Explain to me where someone posted something last night that was in anyway racist, or homophobic, or discriminatory, that you can relate my comments to? You're up here pretending like I'm trying to be the fucking poster boy for hatred and bigotry, when nothing of the sort occurred.

I resent being called a coward for sharing an opinion, and I find your comments appalling.

Please refrain from cherry picking words and twisting them to suit your narrative. It's frustrating and comes across as combative, unintelligent and distasteful.

I'm not sure if you're attempting to come across as witty, or clever, or even controversial lately, but you're unsuccessful. You come as across as bitter, childish and nasty. You've been here a long time and built relationships with these people, so is burning all your bridges really worth the nastiness you're projecting? Even people who have long had your back appear to be distancing themselves from you.

As I said, I'm not going to railroad Affable's thread as that wouldn't be fair to him, so I'll move on from this conversation with you and just agree to disagree. C'est la vie.
