I have to plead ignorance. What exactly is it? carbonated tea with flavourings?

From what I read, pretty close. Black tea, milk and flavouring. You can add tapioca balls to that as well but I am not a fan of them.

I always order it with the least amount of ice and sugar available.

Yeah. I like black tea. Dont drink cofee but i like simple black tea.
As for bubble tea, I think my beer will serve me just fine.
