But Tully was, and is, part of the lesbian community.

My point is, that with the increasing acceptance of homosexually, the concept of the 'lesbian community' becomes a more amorphous concept for the individual. There is not point to continuing the 'you are either with us or against us' dynamic. So the individual is now free to move in both the homosexual and hetrosexual communities as her needs require.

The labels "lesbian" and "bi" are ones that you arbitrarily apply to Tully. Why would Tully apply them to herself?

Perhaps because she said herself that she is bi-sexual :)

I was referring to her being called a traitor for starting a relationship with a man
Shes attracted to both sexes so how is she being a traitor in that respect
She is in the fact that she cheated regardless of what sex her partner is

I'm kinda taken aback by such narrow minded vitriol (the poster you quoted)coming from a member of a minority who champions people stay true to their sexuality.

I'm aware that bis aren't particularly well received in the gay community because many gays feel bis 'fluid' sexuality can be used by 'homophobes' to argue homosexuality is just a phase that can be fixed with the right treatment. Or the fact that they can switch between having partner of the same sex or a straight r/ship which irks them and makes them feel insecure.

But it's clear that such individuals do exist and they shouldn't be hated for having attraction for both female and males. The irony is lesbians/gays are acting in the same intolerant way they accuse heteros of.

I think that the other myth that you should dispense with is that a single relationship can serve all of any person's needs.

I've read a few papers on the villification of bisexuality (friend is an academic queer theorist) but it seems to come down to...

Don't be so greedy. Make a decision.

Compulsory heterosexuality is not restricted to male+female sex either. You see it in gay or lesbian couples. Femme/Butch.

I don't see why not

and i don't see where your going with the question, are you against opposite sex relationships completely? Do you know what it's like to love a person regardless of their sex? Do you know what it's like to make love to a person to simply be as close as physically possible and not just for how satisfied they make you?

You'd have to ask her that but she very well did apply both labels to herself. Something retarded along the lines of "I'm bi when i'm with a guy and a i'm a lesbian when i'm with a girl" How quickly people forget......
