Episode Survivor: Titans vs Rebels - Episode 3

…thanks for the fun Melore and Zscund… see you both Sunday night I hope… sucked in Peta… that idol that you’re taking home should enjoy the trip even though you won’t… nite all… sleep tight… pleasant dreams… cheers.

Once again seemed to take forever to get from Immunity to tribal, and once again revealed far too much. And once again the edit pretty much confirmed which tribe was going to tribal in the very first scene, with Titans getting barely any camp footage throughout.

Nice proper blindside though - though anyone who has ever watched Survivor could tell who was going by the order of the votes. Great to see Alex bought down a peg or three though.

Thats the only thing I hate about the pacing of Australian Survivor's episodes. It is always blatent which tribe will lose immunity purley based on the first tribal segement. It has become standard practise now, the first scene of the tribe who loses immunity gets a whole set up narrative which sets up who goes. Then theres a plan b thrown in after immunity to throw us off, but the initial target set up from the start goes home. Peta going seemed so obvious once she found the idol. The confessionals from Kirby gave it away that the plan wasn't going to be straightforward and that the cuddle crew were not going to come out on top.

And yeah for sure, anyone who watches this show (even just one season) can tell that the person whose going home doesn't see votes with their name until after the other votes are read. There isn't much suspence anymore for the long term fans and super fans. I understand that the narrative needs to make sense for casuals, but does everything really need to be spelt out to the nth degree?

Rewatched episode 3. Unfortuantly another episode that follows Australian Survivor tradition with the episode being largely focused on 2 people with 4 others kind of getting airtime but no where near as much. I really miss the editing team from 2016-2017.

I have no idea what your code means. Of the 24 though I can put a face to 14 names. I've no idea who Valeria is, but perhaps that is why she is a contender. Another Survivor AU problem is you know most the people getting the airtime early on are not making it to the end.

Assume the next episode is Sunday?

P S. From a psychological perspective interesting the first move on each tribe has been about weakening the dominant self appointed alpha male - but in both cases that's been achieved by targeting a strong woman working alongside them.

In this case with a 6-3-3 vote makes sense just to randomise the first 9 votes revealed then throw in the Peta votes at the end

Or take advantage of the known reveal process by throwing in a couple of Peta votes early then beginning the pile on Kelli before switch back to Peta.

First chart is just the confessional count.

the acronyms mean

UTR = under the radar, someone who is barely shown and has little to no relevance to the storyline of the episode

MOR = middle of the road, someone who is partially relevant to the story but are not at the forefront of the narrative. They usually just narrate or get one segment of content.

CP = complex personality, someone who is complex. Their thoughts and ideas are being explained in a complex way and we understand their thought process. The difference between MOR and CP is that usually the CP person has a level of development in their story arc. These characters are the ones who explaining their moves and why they’re doing it and explain their relationships, reasonings and thinking.

OTT = Over the top, a character whose content is one note. Their content is all based around one thing. Such as Kelli being annoying at camp.

If there’s an added P, N or M that just means the editors have tone in their edit. P means positive, N means negative and M means mixed. This is usually added stuff into the edit such as the type of music played or wether or not the way the other contestants talk about each other is positive or negative.

The number 1-5 just means whole visible they appeared to be in the episode.

Edgic charts are really confusing when first looking at them. But if you understand the acronyms then they’re easy. I find them to be a cool way to look at what the players’ narratives and edits look like visually.

I have Valeria (the Russian dancer/model whose friends with viola) as a contender as she got strong content in episode 1 without being overbearing, and she’s also gone quiet. Usually Australian survivor winners are notable in the beginning but then get a cool down before their edits spark up again.

Thanks - I got Under the Radar of course and guessed OTT but rest was confusing. One of those systems where acronyms make things far more confusing rather than easier unless you're familar with them.

Get they're a Survivor thing but seems quicker to write and read general observations - a chart should simplify things, not complicate them. The confessional chart almost tells the same story in a much more digestible format.

Finally got a chance to watch Wednesday nights survivor. Here’s my running commentary of thoughts as I watched.

lol the middle aged mafia

Reward challenge. Did they even show what food they get?

I heard a C’mon Aileen haha.

Marks win was pretty impressive. The titans surely deserved the W.

lol @ how happy Jaden was to get food.

Kelli asking Nathan if he was single and then asking JLP to tribe swap was actually pretty funny.

Bahahahaha. Canned food. That’s why they didn’t show it. That’s kinda funny. But how ripped off would you feel? Of course the islander boy likes Spam haha.

PETA just finds an idol. Not even a clue. 😧 also the hidden idols are just as cheap looking as the immunity cup thing.

Those rebels have coupled up very quickly. Ohhhh Alex just said they’re a week in already. I guess that’s something. They are talking about throwing the challenge. I can’t remember what I’ve said my opinion is about that on here before haha. I think I am quite mixed. There’s a strong part of me that hates it. But I guess it can actually be strategically good. It’s risky.

Alex and PETA are faking it poorly. Garrick looks like he is about to have a heart attack….. but he’s on to the guys throwing it by the looks.

I actually really hope this backfires and one of the 4 (Alex, PETA, Tobias + Sarah) go tonight.

Ohhh man the challenge was so close in the end. What a shame.

Isn’t Raymond friends with Kelli? Seems like he is very comfy in the chat talking about getting rid of her

I’m glad Garrick brought up that he knew the cuddling alliance threw the challenge.

Seems like Kirby is in a good place. Kelli might cook this plan tho. Gosh they are trying to save Kelli and she’s fully overdoing it.

Far out, Kelli is the one who brought up the possibility of PETA having an idol. Doesn’t she realise her overacting might cause PETA to play it. (Obviously she doesn’t)

Kirby working out that she can stay with the cuddle alliance is smart.

lol at Alex asking Kelli’s if she wants the spot next to the fire.

Is it kind of unfair to PETA that JLP is pushing the idol angle so hard? Like because she has an idol.

Ohhhhhh she didn’t play her idol!!! Maybe Kelli didn’t do such a bad job after all.

Hahaha bye Peta! The shock on the cuddle alliances face was worth it. Alex said he was orchestrating a blindside, which in fact, it was done to him! Super satisfying seeing as though they were the ones who threw the challenge. Took a huge risk and it backfired on them. Great Tv.

Kirby played that perfectly!

Agree with you about the editing team from back then @Zcsund1234 . If you go back and watch it is so different.

That said, the atmospherics in this episode were fantastic. Jonathan’s voice driving you through the challenges. Nature scenes. The leadup to the tribal council with stirring music snd flashes of tribesmen in the dark, drone shots, so so good. But as for the dynamic that you speak of, I wholeheartedly agree.

Actually I’m surprised that the production team & editing team have successfully made episodes full without George every second shot. One gets the impression that they may have been terrified at the prospect. So this new cast is awesome amd refreshing, so Im loving this season. Way overdue for a fresh cast.

I’m so glad that they didn’t put Flick in as well, as they had said they would do after her injury.
