Survivor AU - Redemption

I just don't care this season, it looks tired to me, maybe it's the casting which is way off, the 4 returnees are all people I wouldn't have wanted back for a second try. And then there's the absence of JLP of course. David is OK, but he's a poor sort of replacement really, he's trying to channel JLP or he's been told to do so by their producers so now he just appears as a bad parody really.
 
Huge ep for midweek! I love how dramatic they made the fire challenge, and how giggly they were about Survivor Daddy and spanking. Good dreams tonight!

There was a lot of talk before we even got to the first challenge. I liked it, it was good to sort out the players and who is where. I am on board to see The Beauties and the Beasts ruin everyone elses plans. As long as Jackson can keep his mouth shut. Everyone was spilling the beans at that challenge.

I have swung back and forth on Faith this episode. At the beginning when she was acting as mediator between Keely and Mark, I thought she's doing well to manage these two powers to her advantage. By the end when she was telling Simon not to share his immunity, I just saw her as bossy. I hope Mark gets her before she gets him, but I can also see how it would change their whole game if Mark goes.

Mark and Simon are really taking up a lot of the screen, and I'm sure they both know it. Simon is having a good run. I am liking Rich more as it goes on, and Aisha has her head in the game now. Caleb is a loose cannon and really could go any way. Brooke better keep that idol hidden cos when they come for her, she can actually play it right.

Not sure how long to merge but it cant be far off now, the masterchef ads have started.
 
Wel, that was a mercy killing. So glad Simon didn't let Faith dissuade him and gave Rich his necklace. I am excited about Beauty and the Beasts, and their potential to make this a more interesting game and show.
 
Well I thought that (episode 10) was a very fun episode. To be fair I missed pieces of the episode having to do some chores of my own but I caught the most important bits, and will watch the rest that I missed tonight.

The outcome of the episode was very satisfying for me.

I’m largely in agreement about some of these newbies conning off as mean spirited. But it gets me invested in the game because then you just want them voted out and it’s not satisfying watching a group of egos delighting in their position and framing. They need to be brought down to earth (unless they’re funny).

I think as viewers we generally want to see the underdogs smash the majority, and right now we are getting that storyline, not that it works the way we want it to. Without knowing the final 5 it looks like things can go in a fair few directions now with the alliances settling in.

Have not watched season 50, didn’t realise it had started. I better get caught up!!!

Did Brooke *need* to play the idol? It was great tv, dont get me wrong, and Im totally on board with idols being played rather than risked, but who voted for her in the end? Brookes alliance had the numbers right?

It was fabulous to see tribal play out like that, baiting some players into total confidence and then stabbing them in the gut. Some great reactions last night. Fun end to the episode.

I didnt much like the deception game with the food. Just isnt an interesting challenge to me, I'd rather an auction but happy they all got that little boost. Sally is a goose.
 
Simon was glistening in the challenge.

Redemption beach is a big twist! So, of the three only one can return? Good way to lose some numbers quick. I expect Caleb back, he's a scrappy player and isn't going to give up.

Rich was smart to vote Keely! Blindsided them all, great move. Knock Faith down a few pegs.

Just rewatched this and it was 3 for Brooke with Aisha out for 3, so it was a good idol play, even if not technically necessary. I thought Brooke only got two votes, but 3 was cutting it fine. The last vote was also for Aisha but not read out.
 
EXCELLENT! That was a suspenseful episode but got the pay off in the end. I'm thinking Caleb might have a chance of winning this game.
Mark is bringing the game play. Simon sticking true to his no throw rules. This week has been great! I am surprised there hasnt been more chatter about it. Really good week considering it was still a pre merge game :D
 
Just as I was getting into watch Faith run the show and then she gets taken out. Seeing her in merge would have been enjoyable. My wife doesn't agree though lol

Her fatal mistake was telling Mark just a bit too much and making him feel uncomfortable. He might have done the right thing for his game since he sensed she was going to cut him short real soon. I think it gives him a bit of agency now that he has an idol, not sure if he's ever had one, so it will be interesting to see how he makes use of one.

Yeah Caleb's throat slit gesture - he is such a larrikin. lol

Merge should be really enjoyable.
 
Mark's gameplay is so flawed. He thinks he's a master strategist but he's actually very emotional and reactive rather than taking a deep breath and reminding himself of the long game. When he feels challenged or perceives himself to be betrayed, he makes hasty cuts, as he did with Faith and Rich. Does he think he should be immune from being in other people's crosshairs? Does he not realise that's part of the game and he's not bulletproof? Instead of getting angry and pressing his allies to make an ill thought out cut, he should be thinking a bit more about strategy, but he's allowing his power-drunk hurt feelings to get in the way. For this reason, I hope the underdogs galvanise again to form a majority and take him out next vote. They inadvertently flushed his idol at Rich's expense, so now it's time to take another shot. Let's hope they don't lose their nerve. I wish Lottie and Aisha made it to post-merge gameplay because I think they had a lot of promise, where as we saw a lot of Faith and she was just cocky and let her guard down, so deserved to go. But on the whole, I think the women are more interesting players this season, despite the fact the guys are hogging the limelight.
 
I am LOVING the Mark villain edit. It's excellent. All his snarky whisperers last night were such good tv. One of the best unscripted segments I have ever seen. So much fun! He brings the evil in the game and the game needs it - or it will end up like Survivor US - and nobody wants that!

I was surprised they went for Rich when Ben was directly threatened, but it made sense. Rich was the only one smart enough to have another go against the returnees. It was silly of Rich to even tell Simon at all, but he wanted to play both sides and that got him extinguished. The returnees are a great bunch of diversity in game play, they can have every angle covered and its compelling tv. They cleverly voted out anyone with half a brain. There are not many thinking players left.

Caleb has to keep a cap on his street smarts or they will target him next. I can see Sally taken to the end cos there is no sane way shes getting voted to win, so who ever takes her will take the win. The next immunity win will be important, so much riding on it!

Mark either has a win incoming, or he is being set up for a huge fall, either way, its going to be GREAT!
 
Caleb can claim that move - but will the jury buy it? It was a GREAT move on his part, there was no other way they were going to get Mark. I hope Chaos Caleb strikes again and flips next episode :D I wonder what would have happened if Mark had accepted the Jackson vote?
 
Well, that was annoying. If Mark hadn't got into a rage and turned the vote away from Ben and onto Rich, he'd likely have had Rich as a swingback extra vote and not have had to deal with Ben this tribal, who has become super-irritating to me with his confessionals. A lesson in temperance.
 
I too don't really understand why they didn't keep Rich. 4 against 7 is always going to lose eventually. If they'd kept Rich and piled the votes on another n00b like Jackson, then it becomes 6 to 4 with 1 swing vote, it's much easier to turn 2 people than 3.
