The cast for Survivor 50 has been announced.

This is a Returnee Season to "celebrate 50 seasons of Survivor". A mixed bag of old legends and new era players and very hard to pinpoint an exact theme production were going for, as there are 2 new era winners, but none from pre season 40. It's the first returnee season since Covid, and the thirst chance anyone since the mid thirties seasons (unless they were winners pre season 40) have had the chance to play again.

Pre New Era are Jenna Lewis (from Season 1), Ozzy, Coach, Cirie, Stephenie, Colby, Christian, Angelina, Mike White, Chrissy, Rick Devans, Aubry
New Era are Johnathon, Q, Charlie, Tiffany, Emily, Dee, Genevieve, Joe, Kamilla, Kyle and 2 people from season 49.

They are currently flying out to Fiji to film, and will the show will air early in 2026.

There have been many people that have have been confirmed were in the running and missed out, including Jerri Manthey, Johnathon Penner, Amanda Kimmel, Rob Cesternino, Andy Rueda, Jesse Lopez, and Carolyn Wiger.

I watched 41 and 42 when they aired but I swore off Survivor U.S. when it was originally said there was going to be no returnee seasons in the near future. Also, the current state of the show just feels like a Mario party esc board game filmed on an island in Fiji. I did however always say I’d watch 50 if it was a returnee season.

I followed the leaked cast discussions the entire time, and I have to say had I not known the rumoured names as they were cut then I probably would have been okay with this cast. But seeing Jerri Manthey cut just sours my feelings on the whole thing. And Amanda Kimmel was apparently in the running, as well as Abi Maria who is confirmed to have been a late cut. And no Malcolm? No one at all from the 20s? Wtf is Jeff thinking?

I’ll be cheering on Jenna Lewis. I’ll be engaged to see Cirie and Ozzy play for a 5th time, I know people are unhappy about that but I honestly don’t care how often people return. I’m definitely in the minority with this thought but I enjoy seeing players I like again and again. Although I admit having seen Cirie recently on the traitors as well as BB25 and now 2 more upcoming seasons of survivor is egregious.

Coach, Stephenie and Colby are big gets, as are each of the David vs Goliath trio. Too many new era people for me tho, ofc my own fault as I didn’t watch them, but I thought this was supposed to be a celebration of 25 years of survivor? And no one from S19-S31 being represented? I just don’t get it. I was shocked when Jesse and Carolyn were cut initially, it made he have hope that 90% of the cast would be pre 40 players, but nope…. The casting decisions are just strange.

Also 24 people and 26 days? Survivor US is a joke now, but I’ll still be here when it airs. If it’s a repeat of season 40 where the old schoolers get pagonged, then I riot.

And I’m sorry to ramble on continuously but 3 people from 48 (which I hear was a pretty bad season) and 2 from 49? A season we haven’t even seen?! And they still chose to cut Jerri?! I just don’t even have words to describe this catastrophe 😭

I have watched and read a few reactions including Jerri herself. I am truly baffled and disappointed by the choices made. I don't mind the new era seasons although season 48 was a shocker so having 3 people from there is just wrong. But that many new era is just wrong. They didn't even spread it over the new era seasons either. 12 people from 9 seasons yet 3 seasons are not represented.

Skipping the 20's - Yes I know there were some shocker seasons in the 20s, but some good players came from that time. But it is also making people just so confused on what the theme is of this season. You have someone from the fist season and the last season and some big names but some omissions. Half new era half previous eras? But that is still not good enough for some of the casting choices made.

Other than Jerri I would have liked to have seen Rob Cesternino play. Rob has never even played since idols has been a thing yet there is probably not a player that has done more to make a survivor community for both fans and players and fans who become players now. The disrespect CBS has for Rob is gross. I would have liked to have seen Penner back. I would have rather have had Cydney from koh rong than Aubrey.

The dei mandates have gone out the window with this casting. Lack of Asian representation, lack of lgbtq+ representation, I have seen mentioned. There were several people involved with getting better representation on survivor including Bryce and Sean and neither of them are on this cast.

I am genuinely excited to see a lot of these people back for season 50. I just think the mix is confused and I think we has the opportunity at this milestone to see some people we will never see again and production should have prioritised that over new era people when you could have had a new era second chances in a couple of seasons time.
