Wasn't this thread originally locked due to how idiotic it is? I could have sworn this was on the main forum and Tim locked it..

Someone called "Moderator" locked it, next time I came back here "Moderator" had been evicted, strange.

Hahahaha!! Yeah Moderator was I believe the latest incarnation of Jesus_christ. It's a shame they banned that one, though. He was definitely giving me a giggle as Moderator. ;)

^^ Perhaps it could win that category at the end of year awards?

EOYA committee please take note.

Back to Moderator, how did he close the thread when he is not actually a mod? I thought it was locked or am I dreaming.

Rest assured, Australians over the age of those desperately wanting to visit Disneyland (say 16 years old) or to be a movie star don't want to be Americans.

In fact, I would say that there is a general is dislike of Americans that live in Australia as they can come across as obnoxious and arrogant, which I know is what Americans see as being confident or ambitious. It's unfortunate but its because Australians are more laid back and just don't take to that behaviour. I think most people around the world think that Americans on a whole need to filter what they say as they can come across as rude or arrogant. The truth is, the same can be said of Australians but like everything its just more annoying in an American accent.

I think that's what's been the reaction to the OP.

I like America but would not live there as its a bit of a basket case. You sure wouldn't want to be poor there.
We travel to the US for holidays once or twice a year and I've probably been there 10 times, yes more than I've been to Queensland. Whilst even my 15 year old Son is over Disney, we arrange our trips around the NBA as he loves it - so yeah there are real fans out there. We had a trip to Alaska in July and will be spending 5 weeks over our Christmas break in New York, New Orleans, Miami, etc and will go to 3 or 4 games.

Don't worry I'll keep pouring my tourism money into your economy, as the thing I dislike about travelling in Australia is there are two many older tourist travelling anywhere interesting (yes just like Alaska!).

Just curious, Zephyr. Do you actually KNOW any Americans?

First off, we would greet her. Second, We would make her seem important. and feel great. Third we would show her what the porn industry does to MOST young girls and have a great 6 months. Then, she wants to go back home.

Stella's infatuation with the USA (Lakers, Skaters. Surfers, Skaters) makes me mad

We all don't surf/skate down here. I mean all of us usability do some SHRIMPIN

effin auto correct

Don't let the ignorance in here of the true American culture offend you.

I for one realise there is so much more to your culture than surfing and skating. I am not only a proud supporter of Swamp People and Turtle Man, but I am a regular at KFC as well as McDonalds.

USA! USA!! USA!!!

So it is ok for your 15 year old to be into the NBA but not a 24 year?

And there are no older tourists travelling in the US  You must be a very narrow minded person not to be able to tolerate older people. Wont be too long and you'll be one of them.

I give her props to sporting an Earving Magic Johnson jersey. One of the greatest basketball players ever but even a greater business man and immune to aids.

You're such a dumbass.

The OP is suggesting that Estelle is infatuated or wants to be an American because she likes basketball and skating. That is stupid. Do you want to be an American just because you watch some US tv show?

So it is ok for your 15 year old to be into the NBA but not a 24 year?
My point is the exact opposite, there are many real or genuine fans that follow the NBA in Australia and not just posers that wear or want a NBA jerseys for no reason (i.e. not like the situation of some tourists buying an AFL jumper but not caring which team they bought, just the colour of it. The NBA has a broad fan base across the world). Do you think I'd fucking pay $350 bucks a seat and travel half way across the world if I didn't like basketball too.

And there are no older tourists travelling in the US : You must be a very narrow minded person not to be able to tolerate older people. Wont be too long and you'll be one of them.
It's a joke stupid, if anyone's been to Alaska they know exactly what I'm talking about. The average Alaskan tourist is a retiree. Most Australian tourist that travel there are also retirees. Who wants to go on holidays and be surrounded by people the same age as your parents, have the same types of superficial conversations you would have with them or their friends. When you go to remote scenic places in Australia the same applies. Expensive to travel there and you've got old people ticking off items on their bucket list.

I'm ageist and proud of it!!! Still under 40 so not too worried about getting old. And who says I can't change my mind and start getting stuck into young people - old people do it all the time
