Sorry long post
I really thought Ryan had given up on the game a few weeks ago - starting fights with hm favourites and buddying up with unpopular ones, and actually saying 'I don't care I'm giving up/not going to pretend to like Skye'.
However his recent power play has shown me that maybe he's a lot smarter than I first thought - or he has just recently realised that he was on a sinking ship with all his friends being evicted (sandra, sam), and therefore were unpopular in the outside world. He has since said to the new hms 'I actually really like Skye'/'we get along so well', etc, therefore positively associating himself with one of the most popular housemates and putting himself back in the game.
I found his choice of swapped hms VERY INTERESTING. Basically he had a few choices. Knowing that he wanted to split up the couples, he had these options (I'm assuming Marina isn't included/he was told she'd be eliminated or something or made his decision after… I can't remember…. disregard her)
Travis & Aisha
Leo & Skye
Lawson & Cat
Priya
David
He dislikes Travis the most so obviously will choose to swap him (by getting him out of there Ryan will be happier and will also appear more favourable to other hms/australia as he is not agitated the whole time). Also he has a good reason for choosing him "he loved it so much the last time", therefore making him able to make a decision without others thinking he is being malicious/manipulative - and making Travis unable to have a good reason to get mad at him.
Then he can choose Leo or Lawson - he doesn't like Leo very much, and if he chose lawson then he'd have to separate Aish and Skye and that would potentially make them upset with him.
Then there's only two girls left to choose - Cat and Priya. Cat doesn't really matter for him, he would like her there but it doesn't really matter, but Priya is obviously a very strategic player that relies on being amongst the drama/conversations for her success - and by isolating her he can weaken her. But he can pass her off as "collateral damage" as the only girl left, so she cannot be upset with him.
Now by doing this, he will upset Travis and Leo (showing negative sides of them to the public) (and Ryan will not be exposed to these negative sides of them because they are stuck in the sanctuary, i.e. he will not be bothered by it), but Skye and Aisha will most likely not be too upset, and he will have them as friends in the house. Alternatively, if he put either/both Skye and Aisha IN the sanctuary, they would've probably been a bit upset, as would've Travis and Leo, who Ryan would be stuck in the house with.
Everything just adds up so perfectly with his decision - it strategically benefits him as much as possible; weakens those that are threats to him, puts those who annoy him away, keeps those who are close to him happy and on his side, etcetcetc I am just v surprised and impressed with this decision and didn't expect it from him! But he passed the whole thing off like a casual decision and is still putting on a little facade of being innocent/not a game player. Hello Strategy Ryan!
