i do believe it is a part of the "Hipster" culture, not hillbilly.
 
Out of all 4 times we have seen Ryan on screen (intro, nomsX2, frozen chicken), I can't look away from it! Dirty dirty mo, needs to go.

But yeah, Ryan looks like a hillbilly with it. He has a pretty boy look and it doesn't go well with him.
 
Ryan probably thinks he's getting a lot of airtime and thinks he will be starting a new trend or 'signature look'.
 
Has nobody heard of bum fluff ? That's what it's called. He needs to keep shaving for a few years, then he might be able to get a 70's pornstar 'tache. ;)
 
I don't think I've heard him speak so I've not really looked at his mouth tbh
