What would be considered good?

I think it all depends on how well the 'twist' has been received, it seems a bit cliche to me but to the casual viewer it might get them interested. I'll say just below last years - 1.6m-1.7m

well really anything over 1M is considered a success in aussie tv
last years average was 1.04M
Highest was launch @ 1.71M
lowest was a friday daily @ 710,000
the finale was only 1.54M

last year ch7 deliberately avoided starting X factor the same week as BB, because the ratings would be too high for them to compete. (XF launched with 1.6M the week after bb)

this year theyre taking us head on, both launching on the same night, there just wont be enough people for both to be huge successes, people will have to choose between the two.
the upside? our show starts 30mins earlier because of home and away, so we should still get the majority from the start.

that said, and because viewers are the average over the shows duration, i think ill change my guess to 1.3M

Am I right in saying that Home and Away averages at about 900k-1m a night? Won't that hinder BB?

X Factor is touting 2.5m viewers. That must be national figures... I wonder what the national figures were for Big Brother? Does anyone have a source?

The ratings are fine. That is what 9 was predicting. So don't fret. Remember that BB competed with X Factor last year so I think it will do just as fine this year. Last year's launch ratings were so high because people wanted to see what it was like.

Interestingly, X-Factor won in the 25-54 market but BB won 18-49 AND 16-39.

All this effort to make it more family friendly, however it's still more popular with the younger audience.

Didn't really enjoy last years BB, and probably wont enjoy this one unless Tully is in the house for a long time. Not sure what people see in X Factor. It's turned into a drama show with more back-stories than actual singing. No Australia has made it big internationally.

Lowest ever launch ratings with 1.3m. The promos revealed too much of the twist, and the internet buzz was killed by the discussion of the already practically revealed twist.

Interesting ratings - glad X Factor got higher but I still think they are good ratings for BB - the show dragged on - I think people switched over because it got a bit boring seeing the same thing 12 times - on stage, talk, key, off stage, open door, say hi x 12.

Apparently the ratings were good and expected! So all good, last year was the hype of its return, anything over 1 million is a success here in aus

To get 1.3m over an 2hr Launch and to go up against Xfactor at the same time. I'm sure Ch 9 are rapped with those ratings.

It's probly better than they were expecting.

ps. did any one find the graphs last year helpful?
i wont waste the effort this year if no one liked/used them haha

I loved the ratings thread and the graphs last year.

I say do it!

I don't watch much TV , didn't even know BB was starting and I won't be watchging it on tv. I'll watch it online whenever I feel like it , ratings will always drop year to year as more people just stream. Looking aT the day to day thread sombody is getting married? Wow , sounds super cool.....

Big Brother ratings for 30-07-13: 1.042 million across 5 major cities.
X Factor: 1.51 million.

That is not good. Just over 1m for the second episode, beaten by Home and Away... even though this was when part two of the twist revealed.

I'm calling it... This will be the last season again.
Either it will not return, or it will be on an even cheaper budget next year :(
