I think we are getting them for sure, they can't just have Mel say it's time to go..... the person coming out and then the show ending. That would be shit.

She’s currently best described using the industry term “empty suit”. Hits all her marks, says all her lines, looks upbeat when the red light is on, looks great on camera, no unique personality whatsoever.

Mel's already done more ad-libbing than Sonia has done across the eight seasons that she hosted. And while I've never watched the Cheap Seats, the second I've been sold was when I saw her sparkle in the eyes when she said "Big Brother is always watching" in her first promo. And I think that excitement for the show has carried over to her hosting the show.

I mean, IIRC Nine also did that in the very beginning. I think.

But yes, fingers crossed... I just don't see how they'll fit anything substantial in. Not this week anyway.

At least they won't have to pre-record the eviction during the ad break as they only have to walk 10 metres to get to the stage.

My only problem is that they're not giving Mel enough airtime. It feels like production is withholding airtime and not allowing Mel to take control of the show. She makes all these brief appearances, but not for longer than about 60 seconds. Can't they just stick the woman in a chair and let her talk like we're having a conversation? How hard would that be? And I've said it before and I'll say it again, GIVE HER A FUCKING CHAIR.

nothing to do with her but i don’t know if i like the big mic she uses, it makes her seem stiff sometimes, i think mouthpiece would seem more natural, from memory i’m pretty sure gretel didn’t use a mic? although maybe it’s a comfort thing for mel or better audio idfk.

I’m sure she’ll loosen up and improve. Gretel knocked it out of the park from the first episode.

The rewatches proved Gretel absolutely didn't - she was truly terrible in some of those early episodes and it wasn't until the third or fourth series she really hit her stride.

Mel is already knocking it out of the park in much more difficult circumstances.
