I listened today.
I’ve got a pet who is probably pretty close to end of life. 15yo poodle / Maltese / Schitzu. She has a few issues and we know it’s not going to be much longer. It was an interesting podcast, talking about how grieving the loss of a pet is a legitimate form of grief and needs to be processed.

It's R U OK? day today!

Just checking in on our little family here and making sure everyone is doing well!
For the most part. I did find this out today about my family doctor is no longer in practice and I dread needing to find another. So many are either not accepting new patients or difficult to work with and it’s difficult to find one I can develop a good rapport with.

Consider my method, if I move too far from my usual doctor......
ask your most trusted local pharmacy
They are a very reliable source, they know who just hands out scripts like lollies, who is an arsehole, who is the kindest
Who is gay sensitive etc
This has worked every time for us

Also, my GP is a teaching practice, ie med students from uni get work experience
They have to be accredited very good doctors to do this

Hope this helps

Hope everyone is feeling well and is ok
Thanks for the empathy here....does help

That is a good idea. That said I did a bit of a search last night and there aren’t a lot of doctors in my area actually accepting new patients. The one I had I just happened to stumble upon the one I had as I’d seen him a few times as a walk-in.

Also since COVID there’s been a lot of changes, consolidation of clinics, and doctors who’ve left the province due to how shitty our government is here. For example the clinic I used to see this doctor at was sold in 2020 and is now a shadow of its former self. I started going there because they had low wait times and decent doctors. Since the sale all of the old staff aside from a single doctor have left and they now only do walk-ins on certain days between certain times.

ETA: Let’s also say I’m kind of in shock after looking up the reason for the sudden news.

⚠️ Trigger warning
