I have been waiting for this exact SHIT to hit the ROOF. I've been keeping in my RAGE. David was my second favourite until about TEN days ago. Then I started seeing certain SISTERS posting "priya". DISGUSTING. Before anyone says, "your opinion shouldn't be affected by their posts", let me just say. WELL (and I have posted this before) my opinion was completely shaped by his sisters, and it's natural for me to have to make such an opinion from David's (unfortunate) association with them. Right now I don't care how lovely he is, I REFUSE to support anyone who is associated (even when it's not their choice) with DISGUSTING behaviour.
Some of you probably think it's not even a big deal. That lack of capitalisation symbolises HORRIBLE AND HORRENDOUS behaviour. I don't care if the SISTERS (actually one sister was the real perpetrator, not the other) started it, even if they didn't they PERPETUATED the use of "priya". The LACK of capitalisation symbolises a complete LACK OF RESPECT.Everyone has a right to have an opinion on other housemates. They do not have to support other housemates, they do not have to refrain from disliking other housemates and expressing such dislike. HOWEVER, family members of housemates SHOULD be held to a HIGHER standard. It is one thing for a certain sister to dislike Priya and express this, and ANOTHER THING to show callous disregard for them as a human being and be totally disrespectful.
The lack of capitalisation DEHUMANISES and DISRESPECTS Priya. I believe the main perpetrator's name is Mel. I also believe she is a mother of two. How would she like it if I knew the name of one of her children (let's call one Bobby), and instead of calling them by name I call them "your kid", even when talking to the child himself. This would completely DEHUMANISE the child. Most people would call this BULLYING towards a child. Now I understand that these are of relatively different gravities. However, let's say I'm a teacher at her child's school (oh look I'm apparently a "condescending" teacher like Priya) and I was writing kids names on the board. I write "Sarah", "James", "Tom" and then "bobby". How would Mel feel if she saw that? If she saw that done day after day? What would the impact be on her kid? She's a MOTHER for Christ's sake, some of us weren't even lucky enough to have one. And now she's perpetuating behaviour that any mother would not want done to their child. SHAME, SHAME ON ALL WHO PARTICIPATE.
Bhushan, Priya's husband, has never done anything similar, and has always been very respectful of other housemates. Especially so for David, despite their clear rivalry. He has not once attacked David in the same way that Mel has. He may have made criticisms, some a little confronting, but he has ALWAYS been respectful. I do not expect for all family members to not be judgemental and critical, but I do think it's important that they be RESPECTFUL. Even if Bhushan said things in PRIVATE, that were bad, this is COMPLETELY different to someone doing so publicly and ENCOURAGING others to do likewise.
I'm not asking for people to LIKE Priya. I'm asking that she be treated as an EQUAL HUMAN BEING. That she is RESPECTED. The same thing goes for other housemates. I am completely aware that I, and many others, have made disrespecting comments. BUT, I have never done so repeatedly (often in a completely jovial, and joking manner - not always, I'll admit) , nor encouraged such behaviour by others (a like does not constitute encouragement, I like when I laugh). AND without doubt, family members should be held to a HIGHER STANDARD.
I'm not in any way suggesting that Mel be banned from this site. I truly enjoy her input and would like to see more of it over the next fortnight or so. It is a shame that the past few days has ruined how I view her input. I am also disappointed in some posters who perpetuated this, when I really do enjoy what they otherwise say. Some David fans did not regress to such a poor behaviour standard, and I admire that (I'm thinking Kismet, whilst her posts sometimes SHIT me, I LOVE her input and RESPECT her completely). In saying this, it's a shame how people have acted recently. I would, however, really appreciate if people could PLEASE stop being disrespectful. RESPECT, not love or admiration, is ALL that I'm asking for. This WAS disrespectful, I will NOT have anyone tell me otherwise.
I have no shame in admitting that I REPORTED the fuck out of those posts. I do not hesitate to say that I contacted site moderators. Such behaviour is DISGUSTING, and we should NOT be allowing it on this forum. You're welcome to share this in the David Thread, you're welcome to show anyone you want, I do not care. I am standing up for what is RIGHT. I am in no way meaning insult, which I know this will create, because I am trying to RIGHT an insult. People have RUINED David for me, and I will NOT "work with" anyone who can't respect another human being.
Maybe I could get back on the David bandwagon if I see a full and genuine apology, not that anyone cares about me as an individual. AND I don't care if you reply refuting this. I stand by what I said as RIGHT, I will not drag myself down to any lower level.
but even I don't want any of you to waste your hard-earned by calling or texting those numbers just yet. Wait until tonight, or when Priya is up. Don't get ahead of yourselves, because I'm sure Channel 9 will still take your money when the lines aren't even open.
