Official: Big Brother renewed for 2026

Big Brother has been formally renewed by Network 10 for 2026 with next-gen host Mel Tracina.

After bringing back live nominations, live evictions, and live feeds, the series proved to be 10’s biggest reality series in 2025. But given its season was after annual Upfronts, it was yet to be formally renewed.

New housemates will be rolling their luggage up to BB’s door in the hopes of winning the series title and the cash prize that goes with it.

Big Brother said: “Another year, another group of housemates who think they can outsmart me. How adorable.

“Australia, I hope you’re ready, because I’ve been watching, I’ve been planning, and let’s just say… this year’s surprises will be my finest work yet. Welcome back to my House.”

Accoring to 10, the social experiment is back and bigger than ever.

“Expect even more twists, unexpected friendships, hilarity, tantrums, and maybe a showmance or two!” 10 teases.

“One thing’s for certain; Big Brother is watching… and we know you will be too.”

More updates, including casting details, will be revealed very soon.

Big Brother needs to be referred to in third person and as stated in the 2008 finale the house does not belong to Big Brother nor the housemates

Yeesh, I read that in the HAL 9000 Seven era voice. I agree, Big Brother needs to go back to speaking in third person. It just doesn't hit the same or have the omnipresent force. "My" this and "I" that - doesn't flow properly.

This article hasn't gotten me excited for a new season.

I guess at least we finally heard something official. I won’t be excited until I read that it’s in a new building and it’s at least 8 weeks.

Honestly? Very unexcited by this news.

Any enthusiasm I had about any new iteration of this show is at an all-time low after what they churned out last year, and inevitably will again this year. Can’t say this is much of a positive announcement by Ten.

Good luck to them, I guess.

I'm sorry but this part does not excite me.

I have said it before and I will say it til the cows come home. If you are looking to showmance, get on another show I reckon.

If I get selected for 2026 and I enter into a showmance with someone (I define 'showmance' as kissing another housemate), I encourage you to either A. Save others up for eviction (if vote to save) or B. Vote me out (if vote to evict)

I am unsure if this is good news or not. At least I will be going in with extremely low expectations, unlike last time after the bait and switch of the old seasons, so there is the small chance of being pleasantly surprised.

Initial reaction almost entirely from the logo choice (the non-human eye)? Negative. That logo says to me the 2026 season will be much like 2025, underwhelming.

And who approved that first person Big Brother quote? Probably the same team that decided to pivot to the uglier eye logo last year. It is not 'my house' it is 'Big Brother's house' !!!!!!

At least the announcement still mentions live feeds, I guess. And here's hoping for a nicer house this time (with a ceiling??)

The only thing I’m expecting at this point is that they’re going to do the exact opposite of what they should be doing.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they sacked the team that ran last years pre-series promo campaign because it made them look bad when the show was nothing like what had been promised.

A bigger live stage would be nice.

Nothing you can say is going to convince me anything about this year is going to be a marked improvement over last. I spent way too much time last year trying to look at things positively to make the same mistake again.

Heck a 24-hour format would actually be more intriguing than a 24 day show. No flamingo time and evictions every 3 hours!
