Michael the genuis uses the word prefixed....hmmm

I agree. I wish he would turn it down on the bitchy scale sometimes but he's certainly switched on and often insightful concerning the other housemates. Plus he's a a giggle to watch regardless I reckon.
From what we've seen, I feel that Ben is smarter than Michael, but maybe that's age.

Thanks mate, I do believe we are both rather un-ludditeish, to put it inelegently. ;)

Well it sounds like it will fit me like a glove, then.

And for the record, if I put that definition in context with the post you wrote me, I certainly don't think you are a luddite, in fact I think you are the polar opposite of a luddite.

An innocent typo I do believe..hehe

It is actually a long standing joke.

Being a self proclaimed luddite, I have been unknowingly fucking up sayings my WHOLE life. It wasn't until I met a Professor that I learned the error of my ways.

My Top 3 Fucked Up Sayings

1. That's the pot calling the kettle back (I assumed the kettle was walking away somewhere, like the dish running away with the spoon)
2. Easier done than said (never did make sense to me)
3. Treat it with kit gloves (again I assumed the gloves came from a special soft glove kit)

Wow. I took your critique on board and agreed. I explained myself, my mistake and my point. Sometimes you can say: Hey, gotcha. I fucked up, but this is why and this is what I meant, and be adult about it and utterly sincere and still, you get someone who just refuses to take any of that on board. Sometimes ya can't win. I completely understand why people have taken an issue with my thread but I stand by my explanation. If you want to be stubborn and closed minded about it, that's fine.

And I strongly disagree with that. But I do not think Michael is a genius at all.

None of them even compare with the USA wide misuse of the saying; 'I couldn't care less'

Imagine... a whole country!

See? I would have thought that was the point where you agreed to disagree ;)

Oh now this is just awkward...

I am struggling to find the error.

Is this a joke I am not getting or are you telling me "I couldn't care less" is not a saying, because I have literally built my life around that saying!

Yes it's a saying, and if you say 'I couldn't care less', you are saying it right.

Americans say 'I could care less'. Simply doesn't work if you are trying to explain that you aren't bothered about something.

You're a hell giggle Trala, love it!!!

What do you mean? I can't disagree with you? Do you want me to just say I agree with you to make you happy?

I wasn't even arguing against your "f--k up". I was arguing against your suggestion that you can't be a genius if you don't speak all that elegantly. And the last thing you said, to which I responded that "I strongly disagree", was:

"But the bones of my original point, however badly written was that Michael can't be such a genius if he uses such clunky turns of phrase."

And that is exactly what I was arguing against. So, in effect, you didn't agree with me, and I didn't agree with you. Maybe don't go on a forum if you can't handle people challenging your ideas.

I am far from closed-minded; I'm merely expressing an opinion. And I intended to finish the conversation (not argument) by saying "I strongly disagree" as in "that's fine, we can't all agree on everything, let's move on".

You're a hell giggle Trala, love it!!!

Nothing wrong with realising when you are wrong, admitting it, reflecting, laughing about it, then learning from it and growing.

I pride myself on going through all 6 steps most days.

That's the upside on being a luddite. There is always something new to learn and something old to unlearn.

Well that's enough fluff and bubbles for me for one night!

I am starting to read like a fucking Hallmark card.

I've noticed that. Some aussies stuff it up too and say "I could care less". I've been known to do it too and then say, hold, what? Fuck, no I could'NT care less, damn it! I think I heard Oprah fuck it up once too, and umm, I worship her.

Oh thank The God of Sayings for that!

You have to get one right eventually...

Walla is the one that gets up my nose. Not saying anyone here uses it especially, but it's commonly used elsewhere. I see it a lot in blogs, especially American ones. If people are going to use an expression from another language they could 1. Say it correctly and 2. Spell it correctly (voilà - it's French). It's a personal bugbear of mine.

Is that you in your avatar hellzbellz - if so you are daaammmmmmnnnnnn fine! Smokin even hehe

Thanks, I'm trying to quit smokin' though ;)

Russian mail order brides.
Did you know that the term ‘mail order bride’ is misleading and inaccurate nowadays?

It’s more tribute to tradition than reflection of the real state of things. It’s not that a man sees a woman from an online Russian bride photo catalogue today and makes a proposal to marry her tomorrow. No way! Here’s what a modern ‘Russian mail order bride’ seeker does. He chooses an unknown pretty girl who appeals to him from a Russian Bride photo album, corresponds with her for months, meets her not once and learns a lot before it may (or may not) result in marriage.

May I place an order please, HellzBellz?

hahahaha! I've only ever seen that once and I thought, WTF?

Another is (more often spoken rather than written) "Much adieu about nothing".
