She also seemed to get a bit more confrontational after being criticised for being the mediator /not choosing a side

She seems to relish in helping people that have problems so that she looks better. I had a very similar view as you towards her at the start but it has become clear that she uses other peoples times of weakness or trust in her as a way to seem better than them and to make herself look better.
She gains people's trust and then uses it against them in a very sly manner.
She is not as innocent as you believe or i believed in the beginning.

I really enjoy reading the different takes on housemates! Big part of why I’m still engaged in the show tbh

Yep last night when Vinnie and Ed were chatting she came in afterwards and Infront of the group (Vinnie wasn't there) she kept asking Ed "what did he say about me"... from what I saw (and there was a lot of the convo that wasn't shown) he said nothing about her and had no reason to speak about her.

This has by far been the easiest BB house to live in, not only because of the short run time. BB never called them out infront of the group for nominations chat, not having their mics on, nominations talk, swearing, writing referring to him other than "Big Brother" and so many other things.
It has all been too soft and thats not what we want to see.
We want people to be held accountable for their words and actions because thats more entertaining than taking the soft approach.

Started playing a random episode of Ch7 BB today because I wanted to compare to this, and the opening segment was literally a housemate being punished for not wearing their mic. So even Channel 7 got that right.

I'm married to a social worker so I see a lot of similarities with them. What you might see as Allana "relishing in helping people so that she looks better" is most probably just her not being able to stop herself slipping into work mode and suggesting options for putting out fires or possible solutions to their problems. I know with my wife, in every social setting she finds it hard to stop herself from helping people even when they didn't actively ask for help. There's no malice there. It's just social worker mode activated haha.

The way Alana takes the information she learns and then tells other people definitely feels malicious though that’s the difference,
Like lastnight she was begging to go outside to vinnie and ed and when she finally got out and spoke to vinnie she said she was “watching” him and analysing the way he was communicating and that he’s intimidated by her, super weird

But hopefully the difference is that your wife would know that in a social setting (which the BB house is) that it is unethical and very unkind to disclose their own personal opinions about others that are in the same room/house.
There is a point where if you choose to take on that role then you take it seriously rather than using your knowledge against the person.

From what I have seen in the livestream, if she treated me the same way she treated Vinnie, I'd react similarly. I would not acknowledge her, not speak to her, and avoid any form of communication with her because she is repugnant as a person. I'd want absolutely nothing to do with a person horrific like her.

Yes, I agree using any information you learned in good confidence against someone is wrong. Did she do that though? Honest question.

Yeah well it has been my biggest problem with her.
She did really well at the start using her skills which obviously come naturally to her and that is was why I liked her at the start because it seemed to show her personality and why she works as a social worker but as the time has passed i have seen that she uses peoples problems so she can BE SEEN to be helping them and look good while she has actually been sneakily using their problems against them.

She is a very smart woman and obviously does well as a social worker and what more social workers should be like but when it is close to home and with people you surround yourself with or live with then you need to take things more seriously and she has shown that she is incapable of doing so.

She should know better than to use people's times of weakness and confiding in her as a time to boost herself in the house or even in life.
 
When people give up on dealing with Alana she says something like "they feel threatened/intimidated by me" and thats the end of the conversation for her which is just silly and she never actually accepts that people are just done with talking to her
