Not a pearl clutcher, but from a female perspective, who has been in scenarios where guys end up walking around in their undies or whipping out their dicks for no real reason…it’s tiresome. I do know that Google's ad insertion is looking at a .json file for cues for ad insertion but surely Ten can control that somehow.

While I don't know 10's platform from a technical point of view, I've seen other FAST platforms and there are basically three ways how all of them handle ad breaks;

1) It's indeed fully automated so that they just do a 2-minute break every 8 minutes or so.
2) They follow some pre-scheduled adbreak cues that you might also use for on-demand content.
3) You can indeed insert ads on-demand and include some SCTE-35 markers or other cues so that platforms know when they can sell ads.


I assume it will be either 1 or 2 for 10, especially if they haven't done any live broadcasts on their FAST platform before. I would assume that it's likely 2. That's how Pluto demanded FAST channels to be delivered, for example, before the accepted properly scheduled hls feeds from 3rd party channels. You've sent the files and they just put the channels together themselves and have the ad breaks scheduled based on your metadata. Definitely don't see anyone sitting there 24/7 and keeping track of ad placement requirements.
