It wasn't banned after the incident. There was still a live feed through to S8 (2008). It was only the Nine era that didn't bother, and obviously Seven didn't do it because their whole seasons were prerecorded.

Similarly many people think Uncut got cancelled because of the incident, but Ten had wrapped up it up early due to political pressure prior to that even happening.
