Is Camerashy1 a 2014 Housemate?

I have had my daily dose of a good debate, but I have a life to attend to physically, where washing, dishes and cooking is required (maybe some uni work if I'm bothered), before the kids are back from sleeping over at grandmas- fun times ahead until I am back for my online life ;)

I am still in my nightie!!

Time for me to log off and embrace this beautiful day and and get me some Vit D!

:)

To be honest, I'd never really considered that it was strange before not to know people's names. The interaction I have in here with people I don't have the expectation of transferring outside of this environment.

That said, if it did I'm not against it, it's just not something I've considered. I don't have a problem with anyone knowing my first name, but for conversations in here, it hasn't been an issue.

I've probably shared some more personal details with the forum on here about things in my life than I have with some of my friends, which is kind of strange - but sometimes it's easier with that degree of separation from people to share things that might be confronting in person.

As far as proof that a person is male or female or of a certain age etc - I don't really care. It's the words on the screen I'm responding to, not anything else and it doesn't affect me one way or another whether they are who they say they are.

I still feel it's a natural reaction though to be curious about why someone who was so prolific a poster during the off-season and who had expressed such excitement about BB starting again would suddenly completely disappear just before it starts. So I think it's also natural to hope that nothing bad has happened to them .

Let's not forget MrsButterface had morons from this forum track down her facebook account just so they could give her grief. It's only prudent to be mindful of what you reveal online.
Yeah, that's what it comes down to it for me basically. There are too many 'crazies' out there on the interwebz, you can never be too careful. lol

I mainly frequent forums for the shits and giggles, anything else is a bonus.

Not that anyone on this thread would fit that description, hopefully. :p :p But you can never be certain who else is lurking on an open forum. :bag:

If choosing to be anonymous is so bizarre, why have usernames? O_O

Different people do things differently, but in this case I don't think either option is "bonkers" (which isn't an opinion so much as an insult). Privacy is a good thing. Caution is a good thing. Anonymity can be freeing, and depending on what you do with that freedom can either be a good thing or a bad thing. And in general, I think holding online relationships to a "real life" standard doesn't quite work anymore, so I have trouble seeing that argument.

I hope CS is okay. As to whether she could be an HM or not, I'm agnostic.

If you counted up the hours, you probably spend more time here than you do in your real life. I know once the show returns, I do.

It is a bit crazy to me, but that is the diversity that is life.

Thankfully there is enough room for all of us.

I have always preferred the company of a friend to a stranger.

I can think of nothing worse than opening up and sharing myself with someone I don't know.

You and I would be the mirror opposite of each other! Thankfully the opposites are usually what make life interesting, as they challenge your thoughts and ideals.
I wouldn't go as far as to say they are a "stranger".

An internet friend is exactly that, a friend on the internet. It's probably not as intimate as a friend irl, nor does it need to be.

I agree 100% with these comments. In fact, there was a thread a while back where posters were sharing photos of themselves....look how that turned out!! I think it got shut down by the Mods. Also, that situation with Mrs B being stalked on other social media got pretty freaky.

In this day and age, I would NEVER share personal information with ANYONE on an online, public forum. You may be giving true, real-life information to others but there is no way to tell if they are doing the same. That's just me... I couldn't care less if others do share as it has no impact on my life whatsoever! We teach this stuff to our kids, through ongoing online Cybersafety programs in schools.

Regarding @camerashy1, I can't find a single reference here where anyone has claimed to be super close friends with them... This whole sideline issue just seems irrelevant and pointless.

Just thought I'd innocently check out how the mystery was going.

Got all this crap instead.

Well, if someone wants to pick a day and time to tweet, ill tweet "where are you camerashy1 ##bbau #bbb"
Or whatever you guys think will work. Being halfway across the globe, I don't know the best time to make sure it shows up in the #bbbau twitter feed.

I feel awful for doing so as that is clearly a natural disaster affecting people and thei lives, but holy shit that gif is actually hilarious.
Yes, that must be from the devastating tsunami that ruined much of Japan and resulted in nuclear meltdowns or near meltdown.

I still can not believe that a nuclear power plant was built on a fault line. There have been 2 major nuclear disaster and those places are now fucked for like 100,000 years. If you look at all the nuclear sites around the worlds it's kind of scary that if something goes wrong either by human error or natural disaster those location will be off limits for a long time.

Anyway.............. Come back @camerashy1 we miss you!

Not as much as the poster below you somehow knowing my nameO_O
FML.

Once upon a time forum members weren't so precious and enigmatic ... and I wasn't virtually/consistently/regularly nearly the only person to post all sorts of Real Life type piccies of myself. :)

You were there way back then, a little camera shy, but certainly not so precious and enigmatic as the current crop of cowards. :D :D

Back then you appeared to be able to provide your christian name and a happy snap ... and you know I've got a mind and memory like a steel trap. :D

Anyhoo, speaking of proven/verifiably female forum members with the letters (blat) and (blat) in their name, anyone know what has become of a certain young and excitable/energetic W.A. lass these days ?

TraLa maybe you just have a different timescale. I wouldn't rule out making friends in real life with certain people from this forum, or from another (very different) forum I post on (and in fact I have one or two email addresses and invitations from that forum) but it didn't happen to happen with camerashy. I do feel a friendship of sorts with her even though I haven't physically met her. She is not a superclose friend. But I had enough interaction with her to have a sense of her and a friendship of sorts. People are mysterious - strangely we can communicate with each other even if we haven't met or know each other's names. Art, music, literature... Listening to people speak on tv, reading their conversations on a forum, writing letters. Just because I don't eyeball you or small you doesn't mean I am not able to form a relationship with you at all.
