I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here | Australia

I have only been able to watch 2 series of the UK show, the one with Jason Donovan and ex Mr Liza Minnelli, and another with Senitta in it, and that awful redhaired US actress.

First viewing, I couldn't get over how many of them do the challenges - because they are often really, really repulsive.
Several shitty celebs got quite the career kick out of this show - so, there is real incentive to do it.
Peter Andre, got a 2nd career and married that UK big tits slag for a bit.

Mark Holden & Dicko fighting would be good, Kyle tortured. They could just do RTV judges and it would entertain me.

You know who is floating about, trying to get her foot in somewhere, KAK, Kerry Ann bet she is one.
Oooooo controversial, James Hird.
Geoff Hugel, swimmer caught with drugs.
That weirdo who won Xfactor, 1st.
See where we are going - celebs, or psuedo celebs that require some kind of penance & redemption, are prime targets.
And they generally chuck in a loveable type or 2, and old veterans - Bert, eeek.

I wish somebody would take Rove and shove him in a jungle - the Project is fucked up with just his face, I can't watch it anymore, Peter was bad enough, now it is just the Rove show.

Sometime in 2015. My prediction though would be somewhere in July-September going by Ten's schedule of having The Biggest Loser and MasterChef usually covering the early months of the year with them.

The 2nd half of the year probably.
 
Confirmed by Ten that this will air early 2015 up against "My Kitchen Rules" and "The Block" so Late January-Early February probably.

TEN is gambling on upcoming Reality series I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! to underpin its 2015 launch.

The show will replace The Biggest Loser in the calendar, tipped to air from late January to March against My Kitchen Rules and The Block.

Boldly, it will air 5 nights a week Live from Africa -that puts it one foot in front of Big Brother which airs Live predominantly on Eviction nights.

Casting is currently underway for its participants, with celebs appearing for a minimum of 2 weeks. The show will have two hosts similar to the UK version hosted by Ant and Dec. The massive production will have up to 280 crew to keep it ticking over.

Members of the Australian production crew recently went to Murwillumbah, local base for the UK production. In attendance were executive producer Stephen Tate from TEN, ITV EPs Peter Abbott and Lara Hopkins, as well as ITV’s Head of Entertainment Hilary Innes, Head of Production Donna Foster and series producer Phil Cullen.

ITV will need to keep a close eye on the growing Ebola Virus in west African countries Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and hope it doesn’t impact interest of potential cast.

Thankfully the production will be based in South Africa, at an isolated site 30km from locals.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs advises South Africa has, for some time, blocked its borders to travellers from Ebola-affected countries while South African residents returning are given strict health checks.

A spokesperson from ITV Australia told TV Tonight, “I’m A Celebrity is still filming in Africa…..it’s being shot in South Africa and is proceeding as planned.”

I am so excited, it's ridiculous! I've only seen a few seasons of the British version, but I loved aspects of it so much - and there's always some real surprises in there in terms of who shows an aspect of themselves you'd never expect.

Plus, on early in the year. Double bonus. Add in Peter Abbott. It's the best reality TV news in years. I shall live through the summer, after all!

This might feel the void next year if BB doesn't return.

Apparently Dicko is rumoured to be one of the "celebrities". He could be good? Maybe cast as the villain?

Yep they do. In the UK the hosting is a comedy duo: Ant and Dec. Have you heard of them? They are very popular over there.

TEN are apparently looking for their own duo to host the Australian version according to TV Tonight. People have been suggesting Hamish & Andy.

I want Jason Dundas to be an contestant! We wouldn't be able to see his bod in the African jungle if he was the host! ;). The hosts are suit & tie.

Ant and Dec - yep!! They were on Britains Got Talent as hosts too.

Definitely want Jason Dundas involved in some form. ;)
 
Good news on the live content and the five nights a week scheduling. This is shaping up to be a good show, fingers crossed.

Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea are all in North West Africa. There is a clue to the location of South Africa in it's name. They're over 5000km apart.

It's the equivalent of ITV needing a back up plan for our version in Australia because of political unrest in Thailand!

STARS looking to sign up to appear on upcoming reality series I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here are being promised “a career relaunch” and the chance to “establish a huge public following”.

Confidential has obtained the casting overview document submitted to agents and managers as producers at Ten and ITV scour the country for a group of celebrities to head into the African jungle.

“We are looking for all ages and personality types to be part of the cast — a bit like an extended family,” the document read.

“Their celebrity profiles will range from ’80s icons to today’s stars on the rise and everyone in between. This is a chance for relaunching a career, reinventing the public’s perception and establishing a huge public following.”

Production is slated to start at the end of January.

Network Ten will unveil its hosts at its annual 2015 upfront briefing on Thursday night. While the net has been cast far and wide — you could pretty much name a celebrity and they’re being considered — the paperwork won’t be signed for a while yet.

Celebrities compete in challenges to raise money for their chosen charity.

“Celebrities can leave the jungle by saying, ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’, however this will incur exit penalties unless exceptional circumstances apply,” the document read.

“Leaving their plush pads and luxuries far behind, our celebrity campers will spend up to six weeks in the South African jungle and face a host of creepy crawly surprises created just for them.”

There will be “in principle” no outside communications.

The format has proved highly popular in the UK, with Ten banking on its success locally going into 2015.

“In the name of charity, the celebrity cast compete for the affection of Australian viewers, who control which celebrities face each trial and challenge, via interactive voting.

“Filmed 24 hours a day, relationships will grow and tensions will flare as the celebrities cope with their new lifestyle.

“Beds will be hammocks, dinner will be beans and rice and the nearest neighbours will be lions, snakes and spiders.”

THEY were the frisky pairing who sparked up the Logies, now Channel 10 has turned to funny gal Julia Morris and Bondi Vet Chris Brown to ignite its new reality franchise as hosts of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The fish-out-of-water adventure series, expected to be filmed and broadcast live on location in South Africa from February next year, will be critical to Ten’s ratings comeback - with a schedule stacked heavily with local reality content.

Morris, who is crossing channels from Nine’s House Husbands, kicked off the flirtfest with her handsome co-host, telling News Corp “we all know I’ve been waiting a long time to get Dr Chris in the jungle and under no circumstances will I be yelling ‘GET ME OUT OF HERE.’

Her comedy roots sets the series up as more of an interactive mockumentary than a serious physical challenge show, pitched by the network as “a nightly soap opera where viewers decide who eats, who plays and who stays.”

But the industry grapevine is already buzzing with talk Ten have plunged so much money into building the wildlife set overseas there is little budget left to sign 10 celebrities of any real audience value.

Ten’s programming boss Beverley McGarvey denied the show was already struggling to lure big name stars - with the final line-up not to be announced officially until the first night it airs.

“All constructed reality shows have a similar price point,” she said. “In terms of celebrities we actually have a lot of people interested in it because of the profile of the show and the opportunities that come up afterwards. At the minute, we’re working through the casting process but we certainly have a lot of options.”
