Big Brother pair get Celebrity gig
TV and Radio

October 6, 2014 - 12:15AM

Former Big Brother producers Peter Abbott and Lara Hopkins have been signed to executive produce the ITV Studios Australia production of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. Hopkins has cut her teeth on the UK version of the show, which is filmed in Australia. The Australian version, being produced for Ten, will be shot in South Africa. ITV's Anita Jacoby described the pair as "two of the best in the business; they're a brilliant double bill."

That's awesome. I'm looking forward to it.

I guess ch10 needs a void to fill now that it appears The Biggest loser wont return

I don't understand this concept, are they in the middle on nowhere like a jungle and the show is kind of like a cross between survivor and Big brother? O_O

Ten have already announced that The Biggest Loser is back next year. Yeah basically celebritys are dropped in the middle of a jungle and compete in challenges. The celebritys then take part in Bush Tucker Trials and one by one they are eliminated, until there's only one celebrity left standing. According to Ten's website for the show the Australian version will be shown live and the viewers will vote on what challenges the celebritys will take part in.

I am worried that it will be the same old DWTS/Apprentice faux celebrities that are always brought out. If it is a genuinely unique cast of people I have actually heard of... I will watch!

Really great that the original Big Brother producers are going to work on the show. Will be interesting to see how they produce this show. Hope they stay away from being contrived and big stunts.

Saw Gretel Killeen on Studio 10 this morning. Ten should snap up a contract with her and get her to host "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here". :D

Or is that too many former Big Brother connections? :p Who cares! If Gretel wants to do it, make it happen Ten. :)

The challenges - horrible, icky, i don't understand how most of them get through all that creepy crawly stuff.

And - I wonder, will Aussie be a bit different, we have a natural defence mechanism toward creepy crawlies and reptiles.
We have to - since our creepies KILL.

Imogen Bailey, someone who was in neighbours in the 90s, someone from Popstars, a former BB housemate, and Rowena Wallace are my guesses to who these "Celebs" will be

Gretel would be shit for this. it is beneath her.

No this is lighthearted, fluff. Needs a comedian host, someone like Fiona the drunk from NT.
Josh from Please Like me kind of type actually:)

And the casting doesn't matter much - because WE GET TO TORTURE THEM
So, for once - give me Kyle Sandilands, I want to starve that prick, and shove his face in poo then bull ants:)
Oh yeah, I'm on a roll - serve me the head of:
the entire footy show, please
koche
fat block compere
jessica rowe
all of that shitty 10 morning show, especially the creepy guy
OMG this is endless

cheers for that

Good news TBL will be back

@Stefan I think the whole point of this show is to kick Celebrities you don't like in the guts.
We vote who has to eat a bucket of spiders and kiss everyone's feet, who is left in a cave with snakes all night, etc.
It is really mean & often repulsive - but hilarious because it is utter wankers, with a couple of nice ones .
And if they don't pass one of the tortures, they don't get any food

Fisrt time our house saw this - we just could not stop laughing

we have forests not jungles unless they are going to put them in one of the nature reserves or maybe the karoo....won't that be fun..not!!

hehe sounds hilarious

makes you wonder why the celebs would sign up for such a show, then again I guess c-grade celebs would welcome being in the spotlight again

Yeah you are right. I just want Gretel to be back on my TV regularly. :p

Wonder if they will choose a male comic duo like the UK's Ant. & Dec?

I can already see Dicko signing up for this one.

I want Jason Dundas to be on this show for the eye candy.

But he is contracted to the Seven Network though for host of "The Big Adventure" so sadly I doubt he can be involved. :frown:

I heard about this, does anyone know when it's airing? Hopefully they can get some semi-decent celebs, though I still enjoy the UK one even when I hardly know who anyone is. Having Peter Abbott onboard is a good sign. :)
