House dog question

How come Delilah last year was a roaring success, and Mr Clooney looks headed down the same track...yet back in series 1 they had to get rid of the house dog after a couple of days because it was freaking out? Was it just the dog? Or was it because the cameras etc were more visible and agitated it?

I think that dog was having withdrawals and missing its owner so the HM's decided that they need to give the dog back because it was depressed. I think that's why the dogs since have been ownerless looking for adoption.

In series one it wasn't planned, Ben asked for a dog. I don't think they thought the dog would react the way it did - although the owner thought the dog was OK, the HMs asked for it to be returned to it's owner.

The dogs they put in now are probably more rigorously screened to determine how they'll handle the situation.
