Gretel to host The Traitors

I hope JLP has another gig lined up since he was rumoured to be in the running too but I'd have to admit thaty Gretel is pretty perfect casting for this show. Shame it's rumoured to be yet another celebrity edition of an overseas franchise though. I think the normie seasons of Traitors (and the amazing race) are much better.
The Traitors
From surviving on an island to surviving the night, the global smash-hit social deduction series The Traitors returns next year with the OG reality tv host Gretel Killeen in command. This season promises to be real devious, as faces from across Aussie reality TV will be going head-to-head in brutal banishments, hoping to sniff out the Traitors hiding amongst them. Stars from Real Housewives, Australian Idol, Australian Survivor, Love Island, MasterChef, Married at First Sight, Aussie Shore, Big Brother and more will be fighting for their lives, and fighting one another as they attempt to play the game that has captivated the world. Starring Australian Idol stars Ian “Dicko” Dickson and Cosima De Vito, Real Housewives’ Gamble Breaux (Melbourne) and Krissy Marsh (Sydney), comedian Rhys Nicholson, Drag Race icon Kween Kong, and Olympian and Sole Survivor Shane Gould alongside fellow Australian Survivor alums Kirby Bentley, Henry Nicholson and AJ Antonios. They will be joined by Bachelor icons Keira Maguire and Alex Nation, MAFS’ Cam Merchant, MasterChef Australia star Alvin Quah, Aussie Shore’s Manaaki Hoepo, Love Island stars Rachael Evren and Claudia Bonifazio, The Block twins Josh and Luke Packham, Big Brother icon Tully Smyth, Made In Bondi’s Lawson Mahoney, and musician Rob Farnham, the son of Aussie music legend, John Farnham. Gretel Killeen said: “Hosting The Traitors is a joyful milestone in my career. In the magical South Island of New Zealand, we’ve created a series that not only embraces the much-loved Traitors format but also adds a pinch of soap opera and a drizzle of pantomime to create a unique and delicious series.”
TS: “It’s a perfect time for us to do our own version again, and we’ve done something really different, and gone over to the hub and shot it with our New Zealand partners, South Pacific Pictures, who did a fantastic job. There’s this incredible old manor that sort of feels haunted in the middle of nowhere. You have to drive two and a half hours into the countryside to find it. Gretel just got so into it all. I don’t think she’s ever enjoyed herself more on television than she does in this show, and she’s really excited for everyone to see it.”

Crazy to see Gretel with a bunch of Big Brother logos behind her after 18 long years. Hearing her voice is nostalgia on its own
can't wait for The Traitors!

Looking at The Traitors NZ Trailers the interior doesn’t look half bad but the exterior shots do leave something to be desired.
Well that's goes with Gretel's current look.
It's a huge improvement on the previous Aussie base which was basically rundown 80s hotel. The NZ location in S2 (not sure if the same) looked pretty decent. Canada though has a location that rivals, if not betters, the Scottish castle.
I really hope Gretel has fun with this - she could be amazing if she really plays up the role.
Hmm, no. Doubtful it will rate as well as either show at all.

I don't personally see it, Traitors as a format has shown to not be firing with Australia time and time again. And I don't see why it would change now that they have have a C grade celebrity cast at best.
Considering how it's rated previously, if it's average series rating gets around 400k I would personally consider that a success for 10.
That was the civilian version though, and before the US/UK versions got any momentum as celeb formats. This reboot would be off the back of the viewer data they have for those.
If the gameplay is good and they market it well, it could very well fire.
