Oh today I had a patron try and give me four paperbacks, worth maybe $10 altogether, in lieu of paying $106 for two items she's lost. I left it for the girl I was filling for to deal with, I put in the note I left her: "I have NOT told her we will do this, I told her you would contact her"

OMFG Special snowflake or what?!

She tried to tell me she's done this before. :eek::eek: WTF

Maybe she needs to be introduced to book depository? and have her library card cut in half?
 
The world is divided in to two kinds of people: those who treat everything literally, and the rest of us normal people. God help me if I end up stuck in a lift with the first group.
 
I don't really believe she has done it before. I have to say my reply to that was incredulous. She may have lost a picture book once before and sometimes we do just write them off because they don't last long anyway and if the bib record said it was 5 years old it would be in pretty bad condition so we would just delete it and wipe the bill. But what she was asking to do today really takes the cake! And I really think the $66 item WILL have to be replaced so she really will have to pay. You can't exchange a 50 shades of grey book for a $66 CD.

She said as she was leaving "oh well I just thought I'd try money isn't the only currency" and I thought hmm I don't think you HAVE done this before.
 
I don't think she lost them, she is just trying to keep them. I bet she returns them rather than pay for them.
