See, I "know" this in my head. I've even experienced it when I changed my lifestyle due to back pain years ago. And I felt better, good even. I enjoyed eating well and even learned to enjoy exercise. Slowly, slowly I slipped back into bad habits. I need a bomb stuck up my bum to get me started again.

I got a serious bomb stuck up my bum last year and now I'm the new Gwyneth Paltrow. :p It's so easy to slip back into bad habits though. I would recommend the dietician. The one I saw gave me some really good info and was very motivating. It might help you get back into it.

I need to get a life don't I? Haha. I need to exercise too but I am so lazy it just doesn't happen.

But this is as interesting as my life gets:

I'm on my way to being a Goop.... eventually. Had major health issues, one demon at a time but I am trying to get a psychologically health connection with food. But I can't do cleanses etc, they make me feel ill. But I'm getting there.

But I need motivating again, those scales have to keep moving dammit.

It's the same with me @qtkt, I know exactly what I'm doing wrong, and what I need to change, but it's actually finding the motivation to do it. It doesn't help that I am beyond picky when it comes to veggies and fruit, although I'm warming up to more fruit, it's been forced on me as of late, but this week has been bad, since everyone was away I think the first green thing to pass my lips was some peas today.

I think the exercise is the thing I dread the most. I do my horse riding and all that involves, but I HATE running (this might have something to do with the fact that I can't even run 500m...) and I don't have the spare cash to join and gym and do yoga or pilates or anything.

Although the events of this week, and how ill I've been since Wednesday (minus the obvious after effects of a disastrous night drinking) have really made me realise that something needs to give, I'm still really weak and shaky tonight, and I also think I got drunk way faster than usual, my mate told me I only had like three or four drinks last night and I was out of it like I'd had half a freaking bottle. As much as I love my junk, I think it's really time to start sucking it up and trying to eat better, at least most of the time, I think the Ice-cream will still be pretty much a staple, I can't help it.

Ahh, for me Trala, the problem isn't eductation but motivation. I know what I'm doing wrong but lack the self discipline to follow through. I actually have a referral to a dietitian but am terrified of what she is going to say when I tell her what I actually do eat over a week. (Actually, that's been a motivation in itself - I've made way healthier choices this week).
Good morning Father Sister!

Well I come bearing good news! Motivation can be inspired! All you need is belief and dedication. Given your occupation I think it will come easier to you than most.

Don't be terrified about sharing what you eat during a "normal" week, it is common knowledge fat people gobble waaaay too much food, you're fooling no one, so put that fear in a bubble and blow it away.

You ate your way into this mess and you can eat your way out. I have a few great low fat recipes if you are interested and I also recommend this site to make you aware of food choices as well as keep you on track with your desired calorie intake.

What is your poison, sweet or savoury?

P.S. I am super proud of you for taking the first step in regaining better health! Xo

P.P.S. If you need support, pick me! Xo

@Illabeth I hope this week can be the motivation you're needing. And I'm sure an "ocassional" Icecream is fine. Everything in moderation. Perhaps revert to grandma's advice - no dessert until you eat all your veggies.

@Trala Thanks for the pep talk. It's true - every word. I'll have a look at that link later today.

Savoury/sweet? Depends. Both or either or neither. Actually I enjoy salads and veggies and fruit. With me it's a laziness issue which I claim as a time issue. It's so much easier to chuck a pie in the microwave than chop up some veg. Hubby (employed now) couldn't find a job when we moved to the country and was in charge of home duties. He would live only on fast food if he could and cooks a mean frozen pizza. He hates 'real' food. Gotta get him on side too.

Tim is not even in the house and I just can't wait to get rid him out of the house. Didn't like him last year, and will try to avoid watchin as long as he is there. Any prediction how long he may actually stay in?

The secret is being organised, understanding your weaknesses and making them strengths. If you are lazy and use time as your excuse, make time once a week to organise yourself for the week.

The day before I go back to work I organise and make work lunch for the week and mentally create a 7 day dinner plan. This weeks lunch is, Mon, Tue, Wed it is a dahl with basmatti rice, and Thurs, Fri, zucchini and carrot slice with a green salad, they are prepared and I just need to add my apple, my strawberries, my Greek yogurt and my handful of sultanas and almonds, which I have already prepacked in snack bags and I am good to go. I know exactly what I am making for dinner each day and automatically incorporate 5 veg with every meal. And my breakfast every single day - muesli mixed with All Bran muesli or Sultana Bran and a coffee. I find if I have planned what I am eating, it helps stop those unhealthy choices, oh and I have a no eating deadline from 7pm which ensures I wake up hungry. Because my diet and exercise balance is good, I get a chocolate or biscuits every day. They are my poison, however not exercise, no bikkie.

When you think about it, it is just as easy to chuck steamed fished and frozen veg in the microwave as it is a pie. If you are too busy on certain days to chop veg, cheat and microwave them. And having healthy lunch choices ready to go certainly helps alleviate temptation. The internet is a great tool to assist with healthy choices and smart eating, they say it takes two weeks for something to become a habit and a way of life.

If I can quit heroin in order to find a healthier me, you can certainly quit fucking pies in order to find a healthier you!!!

The first week of detox is the worst, but sweat and spew it out baby, because the end result is worth it. ;)

Love your guts out and good luck!

Urgh, I have to drive to the airport this evening. I hate driving to the the airport; the only saving grace is it's Sunday and hopefully the traffic will be light as.

Ah, the plan I have. Have filled one out ages ago planning ahead for a whole month but split into weeks that even takes into account my busy days, my day off, making one lot of prep do several days. See, I do know it in my head. Just can't make myself do it. I'd love to tell you that I just don't have the time - but you'd see right through me - I have time to read and post on these forums!!!

Thanks for the kick up the bum. I will do this !

I saw a dietician last week. It was really informative and motivating. I recommend it.

Whether you're healthy or sick, the best way to deal with it is to treat your body and mind as best you can. I have a chronic illness that forced me to go 'straight edge' as the saying goes. No alcohol, a vego diet, yoga, meditation. I've become my worst nightmare! Ironically I'm probably healthier than a lot of 'healthy' people as a result.

Sorry I missed these!

You gotta spill the major health issue and chronic illness!!!

Hey Mike, I am intrigued! Presumably at this joint, a waiter/ess presents diners with a large block of wood and says "Would ya like to have a bang at this sir/madame? " Is that how they roll?
It's the first time I've seen a game like it, them Germans have some funny ways to kill time.

It's just in the centre of the restaurant where the Lederhosen-clad band play, they have a long length of timber and they call out diners to challenge each other in groups of 3 to see who is fastest at hammering in 2 nails. Then in the final round it's 3 nails haha

Pretty weird I think

Well, It is different I guess. All good as long as no one gets hurt!

Is the nail hitting before or after the cocaine gets passed around?
