General O/T Chit Chat Thread

Geez you lot can talk! Hello to everyone, esp my gorgeous [MENTION=29803]mutleyp[/MENTION] and [MENTION=19441]the Theorist[/MENTION]. Sun is shining here, just going to go have a drink with my other two fave boys, K&F. They are gradually letting me sit closer to them every day.

my otho dr in melbourne thinks my CP was misdingnosed but i have the stiffness etc in my limbs so yeah ima medical mystery lol

Wow! Firstly thank you for sharing your story! Im struggling how to word my admiration, how inspiring, and what a credit you are to yourself without sounding I dont even know what the words to use... you have floored me :) The things yourself and your family have gone through I can never begin to understand, you really are amazing :) Thank you

thank you from what i have heard most babeis even now dont suvive all that so yeah i think it helps that i have always been stubbon LOL im one of the most stubbon person most people have ever met LOL

what makes it hard for me and my family is because m so high functioning iam not eligble for any caerer assistannce IE if mum had to go away suddenly and leave me here with my dad etc someone would have to change my diabetes needles etc but we talked about it with my gp and yeah because my mind is intact and i can do most things myself i dont quilify but i have severe seperation anxoety from my mum one time she had to go to my brother because his wife wa ssick and she had a 4 month old baby and my mum couldnt go becaus ei had a 6 hour anxiety attck/meltdown and people see that as me havibga tantrum but theres a huge diffrence and so yeah my mum couldnt go thats the trouble so many people have made the system so hard and theres so many loopholes now just because im inderpdendent in most things doesnt malk my anxiety and phobias go away if that makes sense i take xanax which helps alot but like most things it isnt a cure
 
I did my post grad last year mutely. Not an easy feat on my own with two teenagers ! I used to work in ED and theatre, but switched to ICU about 3 yrs ago, and its been nothing but study since then. Good luck!

And bbfan, what an amazing story! I admire your courage. I get the stubborn part, my 16 yr old was 3 1/2 months prem and we got all sorts of poor prognosis from the docs. CP paralysis etc. she's a perfectly normal stubborn teenager with an irritating vocabulary, just like other 16 yr olds :)

Definitely, its awful that there is that line and it not really assessed on you as an individual with your specific needs :( Yeah Xanax treats the symptoms of but not the anxiety itself and it doesnt make them go away just placates them into a "manageable" way for a limited time. Is Xanax one of the better medications you have used for your anxiety, do you need to take it regularly or on a as needed basis?

Lol... my toddlers are horrific. One escaped the yard today by pulling planks in the fence out. IT COULD CONVINCE THEM TO DELIVER THEM!!

hahahaha not really funny but haha. How old is Houdini? Only 2?
Sounds like yours is like my #2 son, he is the reason I am on this earth, no other mother could handle him. He has a scar for every year of his life and was always climbing, escaping, hiding, doing dirty & dangerous stuff. Under this immaculately coloured hair I am sure I am grey!

Yep, 2. His sister's 1. He has a knack for puzzles, be in how to unlock the front door and the screen door, or how to remove the kiddy proofed door knobs, or how to get up onto the bench to blow bubbles in the fish tank. His favourite place to chill out is inside the toilet bowl and he seems to be able to run faster than me.

I'm so lucky though, he's very cautious about everything and has never managed to seriously hurt himself.

Thanks for sharing bbfan; I'm really glad you did. I think it's @la'cat who has a tag about being kind to everyone because everyone's fighting a battle. I'm so quick to judge the posters here and I don't know any of you! And, I don't know about kindness, but I think you deserve nothing less than my respect. You and your family have certainly traveled a different road to many others here and have clearly done it very well, indeed.

Wow, 2 & 1, you must be exhausted sometimes! Toddlers are indeed both the best and the worst age group. So cute, yet such slippery little suckers.

I'm all good. Over yesterday's little huff. I have the toddler with me tonight he's being very cute dancing gangnam style and commanding use of the computer for youtube and he's got the moofs like jagger apparently. When he arrived he said "hi stinky" to my 13yo daughter and it's been on like donkey kong haha He's learned how to load and shoot the nerf gun too.

Life is insane with a toddler in it. New things to learn every minute.

Mine did that with his cot....
And when they are teens being that close together they will cover for each other so they can go to the same parties that they know you will say no to.

LOL "Stinky", so glad mine can't talk yet. The 1yo wanders around saying 'pweddy bubba'.

Nooooo... Lol. My kids are going to be super sheltered and so well behaved... hahahaha.
