Soooooo after putting my lil car in to service centre for 2nd time to rectify squealing groaning brake situation i got a call to say theyd replace brakes with genuine ones etc at no cost to me but they dont have parts there today so I'll have to put it in for 3rd visit ... total pain in bum but at least I'm not having to pay for the replacement. Only got non genuine ones fitted because was assured they'd be just fine ... yeah well THEY weren't! I still think there is an unwritten law that says any issues you'll ever have with a car will occur just after your 5 yr extended warranty runs out!

Yep I'm similarly surprised/impressed like insomniac - that's so good. I need to get my brakes fixed but I've just bought a new battery and shock absorbers so I'm disinclined to spend further. Brakes are kind of important I guess. Can't I just get a new car?!

Non genuine for that make of car or were they wearing a disguise and had dodgy spelling on them? Did they recommend the non genuines? Yes, it's called Murphy's law. Covers myriad things. Never mind, you've answered my question. I just didn't read it.

Haha. No, no. I was indeed initially sitting interacting with you from Richmond. Now I'm usually lying actually (maybe I have got lazier?! Or maybe its the timezone thing...) interacting with you from Southern Germany.

Happy Birthday!
Richmond, Victoria is where you are from? Good suburb.

yes i was pleasantly surprised ... am starting to wonder if they didnt have genuine parts avail on the day so suggested the nongenuine ones orrr waiting .... so they feel a little culpable ... obviously i was only going by what their people recommended to me or told me was ok
... ive been taking it there since i bought it 2nd hand ... it was only 6 months old ... done only 3000km and still had new car smell. For about $8000 less than new price with all the extra and extended warranty ... i was pretty happy with myself as it was the first car id owned outright as MINE bought and paid for

I'd still call that new lol. You're right, it's so much cheaper to get newish rather than new. They lose so much value. Right now we both have cars that are about 10 years old but they still work great so I haven't allowed a new car purchase no matter how many hints I get lol.
